I know that sounds cliche since of course we want to score against Bama and we'd rather do it early and often, but I don't think we can stress enough that we don't want to go into the second quarter without a couple scores and a lead.
Bama will be starting their third OC in three games, and while there's been an entire offseason in place to learn Dabolls system, it's probably very different than what they were used to running in previous years. Daboll has worked with pro style offenses recently and Bama has not exactly run a pro style passing game. There will certainly be a learning curve and frustrations on the field against FSU in the first half. Maybe they abandon the complexities of their offensive system if they don't see it clicking so early and let Hurts run, maybe they don't, but I'm not expecting Bama to put up a ton of points in the first half. FSU can't come out flat like we did last year or how we have half of the time since 2014.
The bama coaches have come out and said they want Hurts to be more of a pocket passer this year, and I'm just not sure that's the player he is. So while Bama is trying to shove square pegs through round holes in the first half, FSU needs to build a significant lead.
