I looked back 15 pages and didn't see the old thread so lets do it again...

I just finished Dexter and am looking for something new. The Killing is one I recall but there were some others. What do you all recommend again? And can you include cliffs?

BTW, I of course have to go against the grain on the LR on this but I thought the last few seasons of Dexter were even better than the early seasons and I also thought the final episode was brilliant. The way all of the characters were developed and matured into their roles as the show progressed and the way Dexter evolved from being a type of vigilante early on to a full blown psychopathic monster who totally lost control was very, very well done.

Watching Daredevil now. Very solid.

Going to watch House of Cards next.

Have you watched Breaking Bad?

Have you watched Breaking Bad?

Have not watched Breaking Bad but the wife has watched some of it. She hasn't said anything like OMG you have to watch this so I'm not sure about it. We tried watching House Of Card but never really got into it. Haven't heard of Daredevil, what's it about?

Breaking Bad is easily top 10 series of all time. You have to watch it.

Daredevil is a Marvel comic hero. Dark and very well filmed. Has received very high reviews.

House of Cards is very worth investing the time into getting into it. It's complex and deep and when you watch it, you have to watch it. But once you're into it, you're into it.

Breaking Bad is the easiest answer.

Breaking Bad it is then...

Can't go wrong with Breaking Bad, but I would recommend Bloodline as well. I can see you praticularly liking it Cman. It takes a several episodes for it to really get good, so hang in there, it pays off.

Just finished the first season of Daredevil and it is very good, very dark. Netflix is on a roll....

What's it about Dank?

What's it about Dank?
A family who lives in the Keys. Daughter is attorney who went to FSU, son is chief of police, other son own a marina, and another son is the problem child with a history of causing issues.

The family owns a hotel with a lot of cash. Things start to go wrong, family has to choose what to do about their brother and how to handle all the money from their dads will.

It's pretty good...cool florida setting, boats, booze, fishing, some FSU shout outs too.

That's all I got without giving away too much.

Bloodline is similar to Breaking Bad and The Sopranos in that the protagonist, although flawed, is still charismatic and easy to like. Bloodline is damned good.

Is shameless on netflix? That series is awesome as well!

I recommend the Americans too

I'll check it out but I really don't like books or shows with rich people swimming in money...

Well, just a suggestion.

It is a show where people drink and smoke and never have a hangover....its amazing.

Magic City is a great series. Check it out!

True. I watched the first episode of BB and The killing tonight. Will watch one of each of a few of them then decide what's next...

Sherlock, Broadchurch, and Luther are a few British shows on there that are outstanding and must see.

Thanks. The wife watched Sherlock and loved it. Will check out the other two...

Bloodline sounds fun - I'm gonna give it a go.

Surprised no one mentioned Luther earlier (although I see it mentioned above) - It is a detective show set in the UK - one of the BEST shows few people talk about. For reference, the lead is played by the guy who plays Heimdall on Thor.

Spoiler alert - - A truly interesting dynamic/friendship develops between him and a sociopath. She is one of those characters so interesting that I feel certain a show about her would be a great spinoff.

The Wire isn't on Netflix, and if it was it'd be #1.
My understanding is that The Wire is available to Netflix DVD/Blu-Ray subscribers.

On Breaking Bad - It's like a blue-chip stock. You're not going to get a lot of Wow! moments after an episode or two, but the story arc definitely pays off over time.

Breaking Bad is one of the few shows I have seen that actually got better as the series went on.

Daredevil was much better than expected. I am not a comic book fan and didn't know much about the storyline, but gave it a shot since most other Netflix shows have been very good. Glad I did.

Bloodline is kind of a slow burn. Pace of the story fits with the setting of the show.

Peaky Blinders is also a very good show. BBC produced and set in Birmingham, England just after WWI. Very cool soundtrack.

Damages was good. Glenn Close and Rose Byrne. Pretty entertaining series from start to finish.

Bloodline sounds more and more like my cup of tea. Peaky Blinders was very good, but a bit dark. I prefer a smattering of humor added for balance.

This thread is very helpful as I'm new to Netflix and am just about finished with Breaking Bad and am in need of a new show.
Is the BLOODLINE the show that I should follow up with after Breaking Bad?

Bloodline is good... but I'm telling you, it's slow in the beginning. I would go with House Cards next if you haven't seen season 1...it won't disappoint. Then it's basically like tossing a coin on the other recommended.

Eh on House of Cards...I like it, but I feel like if you don't like it right off, you're not going to like it. We're very slowly going through the third season. It's an odd mix of over-the-top and really wonky policy stuff. I don't know if acquired taste is the right term, but I certainly don't see it being for everyone.

It's not on Netflix I don't think, but I can't recommend the Americans highly enough. I love that show.

Breaking Bad is definitely the most can't-miss show on there.

If you want something really left field, try the Trailer Park Boys. If you don't like it in the first one or two episodes, you aren't going to like it, so not much at stake there.

I've got the DVD thing so I'll consider getting the wire and see if I like it...

And that's good to know about BB. I watched the first episode last night and it was kind of silly imo...

Breaking bad did what the Sopranos would do. They had a full story arc. Ended the season in 5 and didn't drag it out for ratings. So many great shows just don't know when to end or plan to end it as well as Breaking Bad did.

Best show on Netflix no one knows about -- The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Absolute.comedic.gold.

Sherlock, Peaky Blinders, BB, Longmire, Bloodline, Secrets and Lies (one season wonder - you'll see why, but worth checking out).

My current series: Mad Men. Up to recently hadn't watched an episode; now I've got the whole series in front of me. Well written and acted, and the time it's set in was when I was born and a little one.
