The Big 12 Conference appears to be looking towards a media and entertainment executive, rather than a college sports person to lead the conference. They are expected to hire Brett Yormark (the COO of Jay-Z's company Roc Nation) as the new Big 12 Commissioner.
Just another indicator of big media company influence over college athletics amid a changing landscape. Yormark does have some pro experience, formerly the CEO of the Brooklyn Nets. An unconventional hire for sure. First task will be working with ESPN and FOX on a new media deal and an exit strategy for Texas and OU.
