New Ride at 6 Flags - San Antonio

The batman 4D ride....doesn't look fun to me. I think I'd get pretty sick doing all those loops.

Looks more like Green Lantern at Magic Mountain (which I HATE as it destroys your balls with it's hard flips against the restraint) than X2 also at Magic Mountain (which I LOVE and is my favorite roller coaster period if Forbidden Journey doesn't count or at least tied with Tatsu and Intimidator 305). At least this time the article doesn't continue the lie of this being the first 4D ride rather than merely the third in the US alone.

“world's first 4D free-fly roller coaster”

Batman: The Ride is an S&S Worldwide '4D Free Spin' roller coaster where riders zig zag along a the track. Riders can flip head over heels up to six times throughout the ride in a somewhat uncontrolled manner. The ride was the first of its kind in the World.[5] The coaster will be located where Motorama Turnpike was on the northern most part of the Rockville section along Fiesta Texas Railroad.

Looks cool, haven't been to that park since I was in high school back in the late 90's.

I missed that in the article. I don't know why they are continuing the lie about its status. You'd think ONE journalist would have heard of Magic Mountain or Google the subject.

To me it looks most like this one...which I hate. Have I mentioned I hate Green Lantern in MM yet? LOL, it may have sterilised me. There's certainly no need to pay for a ballectomy, just ride this 5 times in a row. Tarpon could have saved some $$&&.

So here's their only actual claim to being first in the world. All of the other 7 (!!!!) coasters that are 4D use guide rails placed alongside the actual coaster line to control the seats rotation. This new one uses magnets instead of physical rails to control the angle of the seat.

So in other words no real difference. And it looks like it's less exciting than X2 and some of the others. Batman has a top speed of 54 mph with the biggest drop only being 105 ft versus X2 having a top speed of 78 mph and a drop of 210 ft. Batman has more inversions but that's what I love about X2, it doesn't use the chairs mobility to simply flip you, it usually moves it to add to the G pressure and make you stare straight down at the drops. Green Lantern actually will flip you one more time than Batman but I HATE it as its just a top spinning you balls first into small jerky drops. The POVs to Batman and Green Lantern look VERY similar which to me is not a good thing.

That was one of my favorite parts of going to San Antonio every summer, one of my first roller-coasters I rode growing up was the Rattler. Miss going to Fiesta Texas and Seaworld out there. They were great parks.
