Just laid some Saint Augustine sod and have a sprinkler system. Live just outside Tampa. Any advice on how often and how long to water is appreciated.

...is watching you.

You should water twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. You really need a heavy rain daily. This is a bad time of year for new sod, unless you are getting daily downpours

Begin watering new sod within a half hour after it is laid on the soil. Apply at least 2 to 3 cm. (1 inch) of water so that the soil beneath the turf is very wet. Ideally, the soil 7 to 10 cm

You can't water new sod enough in this heat. Should have layed in Feb or Mar...

Water it, then water it some more. And if you think to yourself, “I think that’s enough water,” water it again.

I laid 12 pallets in late March and it didn’t rain for a month. My water bill was outrageous, but the yard looks niiiiice.
