Finally caught up on last few episodes; am I the only one still watching?

I am completely done with the gunplay stupidity. Examples: the .50 cal would've shredded Rick and his Jeep, always head shots with zombies but can't hit a live person for anything, and where the hell is all this ammo coming from??

On the other hand, I liked the paranoia among the Saviors and nice to see another aspect of Negan.

I'm over it....ever since the episode with Daryl and the dumb song, I just can't do it anymore.

Crazy, was once most talked thing on here, wonder how ratings are going?

My one complaint about last episode. Rick goes all high and mighty vs Darryls plan to blow up the Sanctuary because he is so concerned about the "workers". Where was that concern WHEN YOU JUST SICCED A MOB ON THE WHOLE PLACE A FEW HOURS AGO.

Last night probably was the last straw...not only 90 mins of garbage but the gun battles are so bad.

Anyone would like to give a breakdown of the last 30 mins...could last any longer

Gabriel got Negan to confess. Didn't kill him despite ample opportunity. They escaped the trailer using the gut-smearing trick that everyone forgets when it's convenient to the plot. The workers looked to be in the process of staging an uprising against the Savior management team when Negan appeared and restored order.

Oh, and Rick and Darryl fought and let a bunch of useful items explode while they were bickering.

Highest rated show period in Live +3 Days DVR only beaten out by the NFL on occasion. It beats Game of Thrones in the Live + 3 but loses on straightforward Live. It more than triples up the next highest scripted show on Sunday (The Simpsons).

We will keep watching because we have 8 seasons invested...but it has become painful. I have always thought that their downfall will be that they drag the story out for 15 seasons. End it in 7/8 while people still want more (see GOT).

By Season 15 they'll all be running around saying "I am Judith!!"

Was the big confession Negan cheated on his cancer wife? I was falling in and out of sleep due to being out of town all weekend and missed a lot of the FGab / Negan back and forth. I like Seth Gilliam in the role and may watch again to see what all I missed.

Other than that I was......

“It is only later when Negan finally agrees to give his confession that we learn the truth. “My first wife was a real wife,” he tells Gabriel. “My only real wife. Till death did us part. It was before this. I lied to her. I screwed around on her. She was sick and when she went, when she went it was during this. I couldn’t put her down. That is how I was weak. That is what I will confess.”

This also falls right in line with what happens in the Here’s Negan comic. When we first meet Negan’s wife there, she collapses while reading her husband the riot act for cussing out his students during the ping-pong game. After she is diagnosed with cancer, Negan calls off his extra-marital affair to help take care of his spouse. She eventually ends up in the hospital, right when the zombie apocalypse begins. In fact, Negan barricades himself in her room as chaos breaks out in the streets and hallways outside. But then his wife dies and turns as well. Negan leaves her there — asking a stranger he had helped to finish her off, not having the strength to do so himself.”

This is where I've been for at least three seasons, but I'm done after this season no matter what. I basically watch the show as background while I'm working, it really sucks.

Haven't read the thread, but I will say that I haven't watched it yet:

1. I forgot it was on Sunday
2. I forgot that my DVR recorded it.
3. I'll probably watch it tomorrow if I get some time

While I don't have any specific complaints about what's happened to the show, something definitely has happened to the show that has caused it to drop precipitously in my mind. I no longer think about it...which is weird b/c it used to be my 2nd favorite show by a mile, after Game of Thrones.

I enjoyed the Kingdom episode 2 weeks ago. I think I would have like this past Saviors episode if it was S8E2. Waiting 4 weeks to get back to Gaberiel and Negan was dumb.

I keep watching because of the investment.

As to what @LesClaypool says regarding to something changing... I think it's the fact that in episodes'/seasons' past, each episode left us with something to wait for (at least the majority of them.) Now, it's more of "okay, which story arc are we playing to next week?" There's just no continuity.

Oh, and the irrational basis of these battles is what we're left with to dissect in place of where episodes are going to further the plot.

The irrational battles are taken from the comic and in fact the point of these ARE that they’re irrational.

It’s really to show that the survivors we followed are not really better or worse than the Saviors and that Ricks Brand of morality and justice is not “better” than Negan’s, nor is his sanity.

Rick is the one who started this by slaughtering Saviors without knowing what was going on. So, while Negan uses fear and a couple of deaths to cow his opposition, Rick just randomly slaughters people in their sleep. Rick may have set up an egalitarian communist society where everyone takes care of each other while Negan has a definitive Red State oppression of the workers for the benefit of the ruling class BUT they are both dictators when it comes down to it. Negan is harsh with his rules (burning traitors and killing rapists) BUT there ARE rules. Rick’s little commune really has no rules and as a result is constantly finding itself in trouble while Negan’s community was stable until Rick showed up.

Even at the end, Rick is “the evil one” in the comics. After starting the war, Rick’s forces go on the offensive and get slaughtered forcing them to retreat inside Alexandria. Negan attacks and likewise is defeated. When Rick attacks a second time, Negan realises that while his forces could win if not should win, it will result in just more dead. So he calls for a parley to discuss how to end the bloodshed, which Rick takes advantage of by stabbing him during the one on one ceasefire parley.

I stopped watching a while back after Negan destroyed the show (with the writers). And apparently most others stopped watching too as the ratings are wayyy down to season 2 levels!

The timing of Negans arrival can not be understated to the ratings destruction. It was record high when he appealed and now bye bye bye.

Anyway, since im not watching CFB this season i caught up last Saturday on a marathon. To say the show is predictable is where things begin. The “aha” moments are trivial. Negans confession was meaningless, and the priest is bipolar. The Rick/Daryl fight was literally to fill up scenes because they have totally lost the character driven dialogue from earlier seasons.

The show has me not caring about any character anymore. Easy to ignore and catch up later on. Killing Negan now won’t even save the show, writers put all their money on him instead of Rick and his remaining core and its about over.

Yes, the ratings are “all the way down” to still being the highest rated scripted show on tv. They have lost viewers but only by comparing it to itself. It’s still beating out Big Bang Theory as most watched scripted tv show.

Also the fight between Daryl and Rick was more than just filler, it was to show how quickly violence occurs even in the “good” characters we’ve been following. The whole point of the past two seasons is to show that these aren’t black and white but wholly gray characters. And some audience members no doubt miss the simpler albeit unrealistic black and white, good versus evil narrative. The “good news” is that assuming the show continues to roughly follow the comics, once the Saviors War arc is over it does revert back to more Rick = Good, Antagonists = Bad as opposed to Rick being just as bad (or worse as he gets more people killed than Negan as Negan kills a few to save many while Rick doesn’t usually kill his group but kills enemies indescriminately and mercilessly) as Negan.

I would prefer they break off from the comics at this point.

I would as well because while I appreciate (unlike some apparently) the Negan/Saviors War, the stuff that follows has not been good or interesting to me. It’s too cartoony with black and white characters and uninteresting to me and unbelievable in general villains.

A little better show last night with check ins on Carl,Michonne,Rick,Maggie,Carol storylines.

The Indian dude is the new Glenn (likeable).

Rosita rocket launcher was hilarious.

Carl nearly getting killed for no reason circa season 2.

Jadis and the trash people. I just don't get it. Why do they talk like that? Two years, and these random people all decided to de-evolve? It is just dumb. Why would anyone choose to join this group? Thanks, but I'll keep going down the road and find another team to join that I can understand.

Gregory is going to cause some trouble at some point. Just off him and the long haired dude to set an example.

The Trash people are the worst things ever to happen to the show.
However I do think the actress playing Jadis would make an excellent Alpha. I'm just here waiting to see how the show handles The Whisperers.

No one is paying attention to the plan except Rick and Carol.

Rosita and the rocket launcher is the kind of ridiculousness I love about the show.

I get what Carl is doing. He's just not doing it well!! And if Lori was still around, she'd be briskly walking around Alexandria screaming "Where's Carrrrl?"

STOP LETTING GREGORY SPEAK.

I was hoping All out War would be done by the winter break. Guess we'll be stuck with it for the duration of the season.

Morgan was revealed to be the crossover to Fear the Walking Dead. It just doesn't make any sense time wise. Rosita/Abraham sure. Morgan is dumb. Which means he won't be surviving this war. And that sucks.

I still watch but it has gone from binge watching to catch up to awesome WD is on tonight to oh yea WD was on the other night.
