Absolutely incredible. I really hope they’re able to get it under control before the whole thing is gone or destroyed beyond repair.

This is potentially a catastrophic loss from a historical perspective.
There are an inestimable number of artifacts on that site.
Just tragic.

So this fire started 5-6 minutes immediately after the Cathedral closed for the day.....?
Preliminary reports say the fire started right before rush hour, and by the time renovation workers were able to send for help, traffic was totally gridlocked. Then people started filling the streets even more to see what was happening as they saw the flames rising. It apparently took at LEAST 2 hours before first responders were even in a position to do anything.
