I haven't seen Deadpool 2, but I am hopeful that this is good. I'm going to wait on some reviews first, because I don't know how you tone deadpool down, but if it does ok and it's still good I'd like to take my son to see it.

Yes, they're releasing a new PG13 cut of DeadPool 2 for 12 days with proceeds going to charity.

I thought is was good but not as funny as the first one. Similar to GOTG2, they tried too hard to replicate the magic of the first installment.

Watched it on a flight to SF. Was laughing so hard my wife was worried. We watched it again on flight home and she understood.

Deadpool just didn’t do anything for me, wife absolutely loves them. I’m not much of a Reynolds fan though. Put me in the minority I guess

Agree completely...thought it was two steps down in funny for sure. I still enjoyed it though. I'm more of a joke guy than a gag guy, and I just didn't think the joke writing was up to the first one. Like the baby legs gag is funny, but it didn't get as much mileage to me as everyone else I guess.

Now, part of it is that with the first one, is was so new and different and a big part of a joke is the way it catches you off guard. Once you "get" Deadpool though, jokes aren't going to land quite as hard, so while I found it significantly less funny, it's probably about 30% weaker jokes, and 70% just not being able to replicate the freshness of the first one.

I also felt like the second one was actually pretty "safe" compared to the first one, thematically and otherwise. I didn't think it was nearly as transgressive as the original, and this new version doesn't surprise me...and it kind of felt like it was made a bit more mild as if this was always the goal.

Actually I prefer the second movie of both franchises over the first. If you only watch them once, you’ll like the first one because it’s new and original in addition to being good while the second movie can only be slightly unique. And that novelty automatically boosts the first film. But on repeat watches you can really compare them on their own individual merits and in both cases I thought the characters were better defined and the wit a bit sharper.

Deadpool 2 was a riot. The X Force sequence is one of the funniest things I have seen in years.
