It's curious that this needs to be said, but from the numerous posts on the TC it's clear that some be given a cheat sheet from which to go by. FSU is best served by the following:
- FSU winning every game it plays in. If you disagree with this, then don't bother reading any further.
- We just about always want uf to lose. There is a scenario in which a one loss uf team this year could be the difference in our SOS to bump us to the playoff. But, that might be a stretch anyway. Regardless, the more losses uf has the more it hurts their recruiting. Those players who are inclined to stay in state would look to FSU first. Repeating the last 5 years would be great. However, if we have just beaten uf, and they make room for FSU in the playoff by bumping a $EC team out in the $ECCG, then that could be one of the most unlikely of scenarios where we root for their opponent to lose, cough, cough..
- ACC teams winning every OOC game they play in. The only exception I can think of might possibly be in a bowl game by miami if they were having a really good year, and that's only if we are battling it out for a key recruit or two.
- ACC teams on our schedule beating ACC teams not on our schedule. For instance, it helped our SOS by miami beating VT. The only time this might not apply would be if it were a matter of battling to win the division or for a better bowl game.
- When ACC teams that are on our schedule play each other we need to consider likely playoff or bowl scenarios. For instance Clemson beating miami helps our playoff chances if we were to go undefeated. Numerous other posts address this issue.
- In general, we want $EC teams to lose OOC. This helps our recruiting and should help when it comes time to renew TV contracts. Things like getting rid of Swofford might be more important to TV contracts, but are a different topic.
- We want our OOC opponents to win unless they are in front of us and it would hurt our playoff or bowl position.
- We want our conference opponents opponents to win unless they are in front of us and it would hurt our playoff or bowl position.
- We want the gators opponents and other opponents of $EC teams to lose. In other words, we want them to beat the gators and other $EC teams, and then go on to lose whenever possible unless it hurts our playoff or bowl position.
- When in conflict with our players attaining end of season awards such as the Heisman Trophy we want players in competition with them to do poorly. For example, Leonard Fournette only gaining 60-70 yards while fumbling the ball a few times would be welcome.
