Who has done this? My wife and I are taking the overnight train from Krakow to Budapest in August. We booked a 2 bed, deluxe car with shower and toilet. It was 818 PLN total, which is $221.06 USD. That fee also includes them mailing the tickets to our hotel for us in Krakow.

As tall as I am I'm thinking I might have to sleep standing up in the corner of the car. I can't find any mention of how long the beds are. There's no food service, just coffee/water/juice before arriving to Budapest in the morning. I think we leave around 10:45 pm in Krakow and arrive approximately 08:45 in Budapest.

2 bed deluxe car...great choice!

I’ve only been on a 6-bed overnight sleeper...and it was probably the worst travel experience I’ve ever had.

Lol I've actually taken that exact trip in the opposite direction, from Budapest to Krakow overnight, in July 2010.

Though I paid MUCH MUCH less. We just walked up to the window in the train station and bought tix the day before. I don't recall what class of service we booked but it was a sleeper car with bathrooms.

Trip was fine but not luxurious by any means, however I'm also accustomed to these rides in India and Egypt, so not much phases me.

Comparatively it was quite nice: The bed had crisp, clean sheets. Our room/compartment had 6 beds, two bunks stacked three high. I think there were 5 people in ours. One grouchy old man and two 18 year old-ish Danish girls who we still keep my buddy and I still keep in touch with.

Way back in 2000 we took one from Paris to Milan. Not too long of a trip but still an over-nighter. Basic sleeper cabin I assume, bottom beds are bench seats and 2 more beds fold down from the top. I don't remember it being bad but I don't think I slept very well.

Me, wife and the two kids took the (see below) Caledonian sleeper train from London to Edinburgh Scotland. It was an experience. Each "room" was bunk bed style and perhaps the smallest space I have been in since my days staying on a sailboat.

One of us had to lie on the bunk just for the other person to have any room to even turn around...don't know where or how we got our luggage in there...door opened between the two rooms.

Did Rome to Germany on honeymoon in 2012. Wasn’t exactly luxury comfort. Hot. No ac. They held our passports during the ride which I thought was a tad unnerving.

Took a sleeper from Paris to Lucerne, Switzerland years ago and had an upgraded cabin. It was great, no problems as I'm 6'2" and didn't feel squeezed for space.
