First let me say, I'm glad this happened to us this week. 11:30 start time, not the best weather, team wasn't their best, and Usf played with a chip on their shoulder. They gave us their best shot and we still came out on top.
Everett will be fine- Everett may not have had a hot start and may not have stuffed the stat sheet, but he'll be fine. He managed the game and the clock well, he made some beatiful passes when he needed to, and he is still learning the system. The further into the season we get, the better he will play. Incorporate some designed runs for him here and there and he'll be more than fine.
Dalvin is the best running back in the country, hands down- it isn't even close. He is so an absolute beast, it's almost like defenders just don't want to tackle him. Him and Pender provide a very nice 1-2 punch and defenses having to respect those two will only improve the passing game even more.
Defense is improved, but can still be better- the defense is much improved, tackling is better and the push up front is much improved. However, coverage can get a little tighter. There were some instances that we were lucky they didn't execute a huge play through the air, but that can be tightened up. Tons of talent on the defensive side of the ball, and they'll only get better as the season goes on.
Announcers are getting harder and harder to listen to- Ok those announcers were awful. They definitely wanted us to lose and it wasn't hard to tell who they were rooting for. Also, they made it seem like our offensive line was horrible. Our offensive line didn't play bad at all, dalvin is a freak but still no one can run for over 200 yards without good blocking. Offensive line is young and will continue to improve as they play as a unit. I'm looking for lots of performances like today from dalvin throughout the year. Maybe not as good as today as that will be tough to duplicate, but performances like it.
Overall, this was a good learning experience for the team. Lots of young players who got a little taste off adversity and they handled it well. They've been through it now, and will only get better as the yeae goes on. This team is gunna be fun to watch, lots of young guys to watch progress and that's always fun. Looking forward to a strong rest of the year!
Go Noles!!
