POST-PRACTICE UPDATE

Here's the video of Fisher's post-practice wrapup with the media.

The entire practice was held indoors because of afternoon storms.

Jimbo said they don't know for sure on Marcus Lewis' injury yet, but he stayed at practice and watched the rest of it on crutches with what looked like a wrap on his right knee. For what it's worth, he was laughing with teammates when I saw him, So may not be too serious. But we don't know for sure. Fisher did say that Lewis looked great on Thursday.

On Lorenzo Phillips, Fisher said they know he got a passing grade on the class they're waiting on from junior college, but they don't have the official transcript yet. He thinks they might have by Monday.

Otherwise, Jimbo was in a good mood and said he loved the energy at practice. Said there's still a lot of teaching going on, but good energy and effort.

As for the QBs, he said Everett Golson has looked good but that Sean Maguire has too. He said the competition seems to be bringing out the best in both of them. Specifically, he said he likes Everett's demeanor in the huddle ... the experience level is obvious. Also said Maguire had some nice plays against the blitz today.

Asked about the freshmen, he wouldn't single out anyone in particular. "They all caught my eye."

Reggie Northrup took it easier today, but Fisher said that was by plan. Northrup went through everything yesterday and is doing well, he said. Terrell Lyons took his spot, from what I saw.

Fisher said the young WRs have made some impressive plays ... he singled out Nyqwan Murray and Auden Tate for making nice plays today.

Coverage-wise, we'll have a story coming tonight on Nile Lawrence-Stample, who is back after missing most of last year. Jimbo is really high on him. And of course the Fisher video will be up shortly.

EARLY UPDATE

The team opened up in the Indoor Practice Facility because of a thunderstorm that rolled in about 30 minutes before practice. From what I heard, they may move back outside later but there's a chance of more storms.

We got to see some more special teams stuff ... they had Travis Rudolph, Bobo Wilson, Kermit Whitfeld and Nyqwan Murray returning punts.

You can see how much emphasis Jimbo puts on special teams ... when the gunners were working with the hold-up blockers, Jimbo was doing more coaching than anyone. He got onto a few guys about not practicing fast enough. And then he spent some time showing George Campbell how to use his hands when blocking in space. Campbell had his hands too high, up near the shoulders, and Fisher showed him they need to be in the chest.

Watched the WR group again, and it's hard to take your eyes off Auden Tate. The dude is every bit of 6-5 and has shown really nice hands in the drills we've seen. That WR trio of Ermon Lane (6-3), George Campbell (6-4) and Auden Tate (6-5) is something to see. On the other end, Nyqwan Murray is listed at 5-11, but I'm not sure about that. Need to get a better look. But obviously his speed is what he brings, not his size.

I mentioned Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane's size yesterday and tried to see who he compared with ... he's definitely 6-2 (FSU has him at 6-1). He's an inch taller than Reggie Northrup, who's 6-1. Kilby-Lane isn't quite as thick in the upper body as he needs to be, but he has a great frame to grow into.

Also at LB, still no Lorenzo Phillips. We'll ask Jimbo after practice where things are with his transcript issue.

When the first-team defense went out for its first drill, these were the guys I saw for sure: Lorenzo Featherston, Jacob Pugh, Nile Lawrence-Stample, DeMarcus Walker, Derrick Nnadi, Marquez White, Jalen Ramsey, Tyrell Lyons and Terrence Smith. They didn't have the safeties in for that drill for some reason, at least that I saw.

Injury-wise, the only new thing was that Marcus Lewis was helped off the field today. He wasn't putting weight on his right foot. We have no way to know whether it's serious until later. We'll see what Jimbo knows.

QB Deondre Francois was on the side rehabbing, as he will be for at least a week or two.

Scouts from the New York Giants and St. Louis Rams were in attendance.

That's it for now. Will have more later when we speak with Jimbo.
