I agree. There were a number of horses closing on him at the end.

He's already tired and still has the longest Triple Crown race left to go. There's a reason this feat is rarely accomplished.

I have never been there but I know it borders a sketchy part of Baltimore. The track needs either hundreds of millions of dollars in renovations or a complete rebuild. And being that it’s in a location where people don’t want to go on a regular basis, the owner is far more interested in moving the Preakness to his other track than renovating Pimlico. I went the years ago when American Pharaoh won. It is a relatively crappy facility, but I think part of that is the 140+ years of history. The same way that Fenway and Wrigley are crapholes compared to newer parks.

It's definitely in/near a part of Baltimore where the high rollers aren't going except for this one day per year.
