On warchant radio Thursday you discussed the need for more women in sports journalism. You mentioned that you would like sports journalists to be more reflective of the community you live in. You attempted to come to discuss ideas for how to "fix" the problem. But, the only thing I really got from what was discussed was to change the culture.

I am not for or against there being more women in sports journalism. It really doesn't matter to me either way. If they are not bumbling idiots, or worse clearly having an agenda like Finebaum or many others, especially at ESPN, I don't care. I like lively debate. I like insightful commentary. I like journalists to bring humor. None of that necessarily has to do with gender. So, I'm not sure whey gender has anything to do with it.

The take away from your discussion (certainly wasn't a debate) was that more women just need to be given a chance to prove they can do the job, and that we need more women in sports journalism. I believe journalists should be reflective of their audience. So, if we need more sports journalists, then should more mothers and daughters be forced to watch 8-9 hours of sports a day on the weekends? Apparently, they don't enjoy it as much or they wouldn't complain about husbands and sons doing nothing but that.
