Keep seeing a lot of people calling for Ramsey to move to star and put one of the younger guys at corner.

I don't think people are giving Ramsey enough credit for the way he has been playing the run and the WR screens / rub plays. Last year teams continually were running around the edge of our defense like I've never seen before and there are so many offenses using WR screens and rub plays that really require a physical corner. Ramsey blew up another one of these plays to perfection against Louisville, just as he has done all season. Ramsey just blows right through the block.

With Georgia Tech attacking the edges with the option and Clemson and gators running a ton of WR screens, I have no idea why would we would want to move our most physical corner out of the CB position.

Personally, I think we'd be better off putting Elliott or Hunter at Star and trying Derwin at safety. I have to admit, I did like Derwin on the blitz though. I wonder if we could put him at Star and perhaps give Pig some reps at safety - wasn't he highly touted there coming out of high school? Has he had any reps in practices on defense or has he been strictly at receiver?

Not sure what the right answer is - I trust Jimbo and the coaching staff are exploring the options and see the same glaring issues everyone on the TC sees. I just think people are too quick to assume the right answer is moving Ramsey off corner as I think it will just introduce other flaws for this defense - namely that run defense and WR screen defense will get significantly worse. We will watch opposing offenses methodically pick apart our defense. I'd much rather the coaches just sure up the 3rd down calls and safety coverage.

One other thing lost with injuries at LB and safety - missing guys like Matthew Thomas, EJ Levenberry, Colin Blake, and Ryan Green (at RB and / or CB). Different issues across the board, but this would have been a prime year for those guys to be contributing
