I'll be flying up there for the FSU game later this year and also doing the freedom trail tour but not really up on my Boston/Revoluntionary War history. Anyone can suggest some good reads and historic sites to visit while there? First time in Boston.

I'll be in Boston literally this Friday hiking and taking the subway on the Freedom Trail. So I'll share any pointers I come across if you pop it back up when I get back on Tuesday (I'm spending most of the time in Maine, but we are spending a day in Boston).

Assuming that is that I don't die from the 290 steps up and down the Bunker Hill monument.

When I did the self-guided tour, there were several places to buy tour books, etc. Also, for 10 or 15 bucks, you can go on the guided tour by a volunteer dressed in period costume.

Edit: Look at that, you can download the guided tour on your IPhone. "Murica...f-ya!

Read All Souls then go drive through Southie with the windows down and Brown Sugar blaring over the stereo.

Read the story of my late relative Joseph Warren before visiting Bunker Hill. The graveyard where Revere, Hancock, Adams are buried is fascinating. Reverse house, North Church. the absolute coolest thing to do in the Boston area is to go to Quincy Massachusetts. visit the church where John Quincy Adams and John Adams are buried with their wives. also can visit 3 of John Adams houses.
