Just got a transfer to my company’s office in Lakeland. Anyone have any advice on where to live? I’ve heard Plant City is better than Lakeland. Also heard Valrico is nice.

Sorry that you have to live in Lakeland or Plant City. If you're 40+ and don't mind slow small town life you'll be fine. If you can deal with the drive maybe Brandon is a bit better because you're close to Tampa.
Grady Judd !!! That's one bad ass Sheriff !!!!Their Sherriff is on TV damn near daily. Just had a big prostitution sting, so if you're into that sort of thing, be careful.

BTW - Lakeland/Winter Haven metropolitan area is among the fastest growing in the nation. Like top 5. So there are growing pains and traffic can be a bear. Especially in the winter months.
Where is your office located? You might want to think about the commute when choosing where to live.
My thoughts on Polk County school system is this, you will have to be an involved parent and the school is less important. A lot of good opportunities in a large school system and your kids get to see all walks of life. From the best brightest to the sorriest trash on earth.
Still not knowing I’m what area your office is located makes it hard to give precise recommendations. There are great neighborhoods in all of the areas. Why just decide to put up with traffic because you always have!Currently live in NoVa so all these comments about traffic are pretty funny. You haven’t seen traffic like in NoVa. Think we’ve figured out that south Lakeland is where we will end up.
