Why do people tweet condolences anyway? Family and people who would appreciate it never see it?

Same as people tweeting happy birthday to their parents. If the parent isn't on twitter it's a hollow statement.

That sure took a turn. Announced this summer the prognosis was said to be good for Flip. And then the owner comes out and says Flip would not be back this season. I guess he knew how much his health had declined.
