All and all a pretty strong class, I'd say (and yes, these are pop/RB non-rock n roll bands--that is how it has been since the inception of the Hall). I'd say: the Smiths, Chicago, Cheap Trick and Steve Miller....probably NWA and Janet get in as well.

Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A, the Smiths, Janet Jackson, Chic, Steve Miller, Chicago, Chaka Khan, Cheap Trick, the J.B.'s and Yes

Kinda shocked that Chicago didn't make it in long ago. They've had tremendous commercial success over a long time period. I know they turned into a syrupy, love ballad oriented group - but their early stuff (when Kath was still alive) is as good as anything ever recorded. Great mix of the horns with Kath's blistering guitar work, Cetera was damn good on the bass, and three top notch singers taking turns on lead vocals.

Don't think Janet Jackson or Shaka Khan will make the cut. Wouldn't draft them on my fantasy team.

Yes needs to be in there. Not sure there's enough room on stage for all musicians who've been in the group at one time or another though.

Very happy to see Cheap Trick in there. They were a shockingly influential band for the next generation of young kids that went on to form huge 90's bands.

If the Smiths get in, I wonder if Morissey will join them and play because he has been extremely adamant that the Smiths will never reunite.

Cannot believe that Richard Thompson has not made it in.

Chaka Khan? Was there more than that one song?

She's had a solid 40+ year career, though she's funk/r&b as opposed to rock & roll (but there are a lot of non- rock & roll acts in the rock & roll hof).

I did not realize that about Chaka Khan. I think that is why leaning toward more of a music HoF is not such a bad idea. I am sure there are a lot of careers and interesting stories out there they may come from genres of music one would not keep up with.

Unless there is a big R&R revival coming soon, then almost every blip on the radar will eventually get in lol.

That being said, Chicago and Yes should have already been in there.

I saw Cheap Trick open for Motley Crue back in 1997, and they were great. Surrender live was incredible.

Speaking of Crue and the HOF, still no love for Motley Crue? It's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, isn't it?

They ought to change the name of the RRHOF to the Music HOF and start over. What an abortion it's become...
