Rodeo Food

We are going Saturday with the kid and parents so im sure we will buy some stupid fried stuff and split it all up. We were discussing either fried PB&J or a fried poptart. Wife loves the fried cookie dough

We went last night and there was a Polish deli place on the NE corner of the Astrodome that was INCREDIBLE. Some of the best sauerkraut I've ever had...
I think I ate at that place last year, got polish dumplings basically, the name of which escapes me. Im pretty excited I love rodeo season.

Don't see the appeal in that crap. Eat something healthy before you go and just get a beer and enjoy the show.

I went to a couple fairs last year and saw deep fried Weight Watchers bars.

Deep Fried bacon dipped in dark chocolate, mmmmmm good!

Ask and ye shall receive. Just sitting here watching Carnival Eats on the Cooking Channel and they talked about this.

I tried the deep fried butter and deep fried Coke balls at the Strawberry Festival two years ago I believe. The butter was actually painful (they fry frozen butter balls but after frying the batter gets hot enough to liquify the butter and it turns into a scalding hot mess) and not particularly tasty. The deep fried coke (coke syrup in the fried dough ball dough mixture and in a topping syrup) was ok but not good enough to get again.

This year the most interesting at the Strawberry Festival (which I didn't get but could be good) is the hush puppy burger where they fry hushpuppies in the shape of a bun and add tartar sauce to the burger along with lettuce and tomato. They also had a burger topped with vanilla ice cream and chex cereal on a hollowed bun with lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheese, onion and pickle. That's in addition to the donut burger and French toast burger.
