FSU sports information:
Former Florida State pitcher Kathryn Sandercock, former player Yurby Alicart and current FSU assistant coach Kaleigh Rafter will each take part in the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, from Sunday through Saturday, Nov. 4. Sandercock is a member of Team USA's 16-player roster while Alicart will represent Venezuela at the games. Rafter is the head coach of the No. 4 world-ranked Canadian squad.
After leaving FSU as one of the top pitchers in school history, Sandercock took her talents to Athletes Unlimited where she pitched 30.2 innings, allowing just nine runs for a 2.05 ERA while striking out 13 batters. Sandercock then took her talents to Japan as she signed with the SGH Galaxy Stars who are a part of the Japan Diamond Softball League. Sandercock began her pro career in Japan in September with the season running through November.
Sandercock and Team USA are in Group A along with Chile, Mexico and Venezuela. The full schedule for Team USA can be found here.
Rafter is in her third year as the head coach for the Canadian National Team and has the Canadians ranked top five in the world. Earlier this summer, Rafter helped the Canadians clinch a spot in next year's WBSC Women's Softball World Cup. Prior to coaching Team Canada, Rafter was on Team Canada for 15 seasons where she was a two-time Olympian and tallied four medals (three gold; one silver).
Team Canada is in Group B along with Cuba, Peru and Puerto Rico. You can find the full schedule here.
An Olympian at the 2008 games in Beijing, Alicart returned to the Venezuelan National Team last year to compete once again in the Pan American Games. Alicart competed for the Seminoles in 2006 and 2007 and was a two-time First Team All-ACC selection for the Seminoles.
