Football teams in one season peak and can lull at different times. Remember last year when Ole Miss beat Bama and looked like the total package. They faded towards the end of the season. And Ohio St? They looked horrible and lost early. But they improved and soundly won both playoff games.
It's a long season. Survive, but don't get too caught up in the September picture. (Other than the poll positioning bias)
Right now we can't block anyone. Personally, I'm not sure we want to take on the powers just yet. But let's see where we are in a few weeks. And hopefully after we beat the gates for the 5th time in 6 tries, we will be ready for whatever the post season brings.
