I have 3 different spots in the Tally area scoped out that I would hunk down in. Plus a handful of friends that I know are already armed to the teeth. Pretty sure we could survive long enough to get a Prison like set up going (walled-in, room for food to grow, relatively easy access to clean water and firewood).

What say you? How long do you think you last?

Pretty long. I've been taking foraging classes with the Green Deane for quite some time.

So I don't need humans to subsist as I have a full wild larder only a handful of people know how to access.

I would be like the hacker dude in Z Nation. Give me access to the world's Interwebz and a base in the Tundra region and I would be perfectly fine

Once the grids go down, there's no interwebz anymore.

Once the grids go down, there's no interwebz anymore.

Which leads me to a follow up question. How well do you think you would be able to scavenge to maintain some semblance of normalcy? i.e. digging up a fuel tank, finding generators, etc.

Once the grids go down, there's no interwebz anymore.

Not the full version of the interwebz but an NSA surveillance based one running on backups. You should look up Citizen Z from Z Nation

Definitely somewhere up north, where the temps drop below freezing during the winter. Free-run to plunk zombies all winter after they freeze.

But it's gotta be someplace warm enough to grow food in the summer.

If it ever happens, I'll just finish off my script in one sitting and go swimming in the gulf.........I deal with enough idiots as it is now, I have no patience to deal with idiots trying to eat my brains.

Some zombie authorities believe that zombies can swim. Or at least not drown. They just kind of drift along with the current waiting for someone that has taken their meds or finished off like a case of old style all relaxed & enjoying the boat ride to come along & then they have their way with them.
Little known zombie trivia for ya'.
Adjust your z apocalypse preparations accordingly.

So if the zombies cant swim, then house boats just became the most valuable things on the planet...

Possibly so, although one may want to consider foregoing the refreshing afternoon dip.

Are these Walking Dead-type zombies or 28 Days Later rage virus "zombies"?

What's everyone's weapon of choice? I think for a Walking Dead zombie I'll take a 28 inch aluminum baseball bat.

aluminum bat should be fine for the random slow walker. For the more feisty or freshly turned 12 gauge semi auto. For the "Rage virus" type zombie you should probably consider yourself mortally effed.

I doubt I'll last long and if they eat me after I'm dead what would I care?

But just in case I'll take my gun in a zip lock and worst thing is I'll eat a bullet before they get me

Think I would do ok with TWD type Zombies. Can head to my folks place on Isle of Capri, everybody old and almost dead anyway. Just start taking people out, build a wall, have the whole island as protection. Now if it is 28 days later Zombies, I'm out as soon as possible.

I'll meet you at FCI, I'll be waving a Nole flag, dont shoot.

Yeah, if it's 28 Days Later, I'm out. Although that situations is more of a "wait it out" situation. The Walking Dead/Dawn of the Dead is more long-term.

I don't have enough ammo for something long term, but I do have a garage full of tools, machetes, generator, supplies to build stuff, etc. that I always keep in stock.

IIRC one of the downfalls of 28 Days Later was that:
  1. It was a densely populated suburban area
  2. It hadn't rained in a long time.
We get plenty of water in Florida, so short term survival would be relatively easy. Long term where you have to forage would be dominated by the hunters and outdoors men of the area.

Who knows how long, but I 'm definitely gonna go full on cannibal from the get.

Since they have no oxygen in their lungs to keep them afloat, they would be walking around on the bottom of the bodies of water, where they didn't get stuck in the mud. Zombie tours can be had once things are under control.

a good point. Out in the bay one might be reasonably safe from sea faring zombies. However in shallower rivers creeks ponds etc their hanging out at the bottom could still be problematic. Something else to get hung on while fishing. A real pain all the way around.
