I never cared for his douchy personality but his food always looked and sounded better than equivalent celebrity chefs.

But apparently he’s been sexually harassing, stealing tips and requiring unpaid overtime from female employees for years if not decades. Bourdain ratted him out two hours ago as the target of the next wave of Me Too articles.

 
Hospitality, esp restaurants, are among the most notorious hotbeds of sexual harassment.

Folks want to point the fingers at DC or Hollywood as though this is primarily a deviance of the wealthy and/or famous, but look no further than your local crApplebees or Hardees to find out that this behavior is rampant just off your nearest interstate exit.

Hopefully Batali getting outted starts a trend in hospitality similar to what we've seen in film, comedy, and politics.

Can only imagine the dirt uncovered when it spreads to coaching -- yikes.

Speaking from personal experience, it's not uncommon for owners/chefs to do two of those to all employees, not just women, and they have been since the inception of the restaurant.

With Bourdain calling him out on twitter, he better hope he hasn't had any transgressions during his drinking and drugging days that he doesn't recollect. I actually like him more these days. Gonna be unhappy if someone comes out with stories about Alton Brown. He is just about the only one I go out of my way to watch.

I (insert name) would sincerely like to apologize for putting (insert body part) (into/on) (insert female body part). I know this childish and reckless behaviour hurt (insert number of women and/or names) deeply and will be seeking (sexual addiction counselling/drug and alcohol rehab) to overcome this mental disease. Please allow me some time to work through this misdeed with my (family/pet dog).

There, written by someone who is a lawyer AND a former member of the press. Give me my $$$$$$!!!

yuppers. Pretty much sums that up. I might just copy and save this just in case there are some issues that I may not remember.

THIS is what is at the core of this entire "movement" - those who see themselves "above it all" in a world full of "little people". Studio execs see young actresses as "little people" just like the TV stallions see the "production assistants" as fodder for whatever they want - they send the juniors out for coffee and "whatevers" all day long, identifying the ones that are most compliant.

Who else operates in this fashion on a daily basis?
- Elected politicians
- Appointed government officials (Secretary of ______ )
- Law firm partners
- Ad agency partners
- PR firm partners - etc.
- Chefs
- Caligula / Joffrey Baratheon
- Jerry Sandusky
- or any other person who has significant influence on the professional progress over someone they have targeted.

Former staff at The Spotted Pig restaurant in Manhattan are among 10 women who allege the eatery’s co-owner Ken Friedman sexually harassed employees—in a pattern that prompted staff to call the restaurant’s V.I.P area the "rape room."

It was in this area that Friedman’s friend Mario Batali, who invested in the restaurant when it opened in 2004, allegedly assaulted one of the women who has accused the celebrity chef of sexual misconduct.
