I watched Dawn of the Dead (2004 version) on my lunch break and was reading some comments on the IMDB message boards and that got me thinking about my favorite modern zombie movies and shows and where they rank.

There was a "Best 15 Zombie Movies of 21st Century" list, which I liked, but didn't include inflection movies or TV shows.

So what say ye, oh mighty and powerful LR? What are your favorites from the past 20 years?

With this new fangled message board options, you can actually vote more than once and change your votes. Feel free to pick up to 3.

If you like one that isn't listed, write it in below and I'll add it to the poll for others to consider as well.

Did not care at all for WWZ. Way overhyped. Of the ones listed that I've seen, Shaun of the Dead would be my favorite. I just enjoyed the comedy/zombie approach to the film.

Shaun of the Dead is my definitive answer but I would have voted for the original Night of the Living Dead and Zombi 2 had they been available. In particular, how can you argue with Zombi 2 with its famous scenes of a topless diver AND an actual real live shark both fighting with an underwater zombie (plus the creepy eye splinter scene).

Shaun would be my favorite from the list above. I'm enjoying iZombie quite a bit now.

I watched Dawn of the Dead remake again awhile back and it was odd to see Phil Dunphy being a complete tool and filming himself banging that girl. And then see him turn.

Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later.

I Am Legend they infected were supposed to be vampires.

Dead Snow is just a pure joy, I mean, Nazi zombies and snowmobiles w/ machine guns. Zombie Land is fun mostly due to Woody Tallahassee Harelson and the Bill Murray cameo.

I'm not a fan of the classic zombie genre at all, and would probably never watch a "real" zombie move like Dawn of the Dead. However, Zombies as an element of another kind of genre movie, I can deal with that. Really like Shaun of the Dead, and I'm like the one person that liked World War Z a good deal. I thought 28 days later was pretty good, and I like Zombieland ok, but it tried a bit too hard in my opinion.

That's a hard one. Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland are more comedies than true zombie movies. They are great fun though. I voted 28 days later

Here's some other fantastic zombie/infected/demon possessed movies that are either older, foreign or indie and should be on this list (besides Return of the Living Dead, the Evil Dead series, Night of the Living Dead and Zombi 2 all of which are hugely influential classics that SHOULD be on the list).

In no particular order this is my completist list for the Zombiephile (all of which I have in DVD or Bluray)

Deadgirl
Rec
Rec 2 (but definitely skip Rec 3)
Berlin Undead
Carriers
Re-Animator
Dead Alive/Braindead
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie
I Walked With A Zombie
Fido
Crazies (original not remake)
The Beyond/7 Doors of Death
City of the Living Dead
Dead and Buried
Zombie Holocaust/Zombi 3
I Sell the Dead
Dead of Night/Deathdream
Wild Zero (definitely the most over the top odd movie on the list even beating out Dead Alive, check out the trailer. It's close to Six String Samurai for its absurdity which...btw does have zombies but I wouldn't call it a zombie movie).

Dude, you must be the life of the party.

That was in true LR form Ericram.

I would put 28 days later at the top of that list. So many horror movies are either bad or at best time wasters. 28 days was a very good movie imo. I have caught myself several times watching it unplanned just because it was on at the time I had the TV on.
