I am tired of the irrational fear of Alabama and Saban. Yes, we absolutely have a good chance to beat them. "But our OL sucks" stop. Let's see them play this year everyone said the same thing about the oline before 2013 and they ended up all getting drafted. So just wait. "But bama's defense is better than the Seahawks" Yes bama had a very good defense last year and Saban is a great d coach that has had excellent teams, but they lost SEVEN players to the draft this year. Five of their front seven and Five players in the first two rounds. "Alabama dominates everyone" Stop. They lost to Clemson in a very similar fashion to how we lost to Clemson in fact we had 3 similar opponents to them last year and had the same record and very similar out comes.
Let's stop slobbering over nick and his his deer antler spray team and acknowledge some facts.
1. They lost a ton of talent. They have talented young players that will play this year but game experience is huge. Most of the players that got drafted played on defense in the front seven which is an ideal opportunity for our young developing o line which could end up being pretty good.
2. They have some serious coaching turn over on offense. Their players have a 3rd OC in 3 games. And they have to replace one of the best OL coaches in christobal. If the players learn the new offense completely this summer they still have limited reps on the new stuff and need to buy in or they will slip up.
3. Our defense returns a ton of talent and our DL will cause problems for everyone we play. Teams have to trade off of having less WR on the field or haveing the pocket collapse quickly every play.
4. You can say what you want but our team is not complacent and is very talented on both sides of the ball. Yes we loose the best player from our offense. Replacing dalvin will be a 2 or 3 man job. As a whole they will not break as many 50+ yrd Tds and your jaw won't hit the floor once a game but they will have fresh legs and the hot hand will get to keep going the result will likely be a really good unit. We have a ton of talent at every position on offense (yes even OL) these kids have been waiting to play and the ones that have worked the hardest will be on the field. A lot of fans, myself included expect great players to come in and start but the reality is that is an exceptional player by definition many great players need to develop and I think we will be excellent this year on both OL and WR.
5-10. We have a quarterback that has the respect of the team.
