My brother got accused of cheating on a test in high school. They made him come in on a Saturday and re-take the test in a room alone with the teacher watching him.

He scored higher the second time and the principal personally apologized to him and my parents.

Appreciate her determination to be a Nole but anything close to that score & GPA wouldn’t get you into FSU 15 years ago, let alone today.

Without any evidence whatsoever, you can't just arbitrarily accuse somebody of cheating. I think she has a great case.

Do you think the people administering the SAT lack understanding what they are doing, it's consequences, and are are in the business of flagging SAT tests arbitrarily?
I'm not the one who could be looking at a potential civil law suit. Let's just hope they have some concrete evidence. Sadly, we live in a different era nowadays.

You didn't answer the question. I have no idea the merits of the case, but there is no question in my mind the SAT board knows what they are doing and doesn't lack experience defending themselves against lawsuits.

Yea the evidence of their accusations is the key here. A 300 point increase in score is not enough. Hence the lawsuit for SAT administers to show their evidence or approval the score.

They very well could be. Like you, I have no idea of the merits of the case. It will be interesting to see how this case is resolved. She has already lawyered up with a civil rights attorney. Don't get me wrong, I'm not for or against her or anybody at this juncture. Just hope everyone has done their homework....

I don't agree they arbitrarily flag tests for a minute, to be honest. That said, I have no idea the merits of the case.

I wonder if this is a case where a bunch of students taking the test together at the school missed the same questions repeatedly?

Everyone can occasionally get it wrong...even the SAT board. Historical evidence supports that fact.

I read it as her answers (A, B, C, D, E) night have been the same as somebody sitting next to her even though they might have been (or probably were) taking different versions of he test. If you have 40 questions and the answers match identically then the odds of that are about as bleak as somebody winning the lottery while getting bit by a shark while riding a rhino who’s humping the unicorn in the squaty potty commercials.

The student isn't even accused of cheating. There are simply "preliminary concerns" which were probably picked up by some algorithm. I'm sure they'll clear this all up.

If that was the case then wouldn’t she have bombed the test and not improve her score? If she copied from a different test version her answers might match but they’d be mostly incorrect. I’m not saying she didn’t cheat or anything but that scenario doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah I thought of that too but that’s just the way I read it. It could be that somebody copied off her paper and they bombed. But after reading it again... idk. I just liked my likelihood analogy. Thought it was funny.

I’m with the above posters... regardless of a 1230 SAT the 3.1 GPA in high school is generally not getting you into FSU. I have a feeling there’s more to this story.

Hell, the ncaa flags a lot of our players scores too. How many times have we had a recruit get their scores flagged? And they never rule until after practice starts. It used to happen a lot.

She will major in dance and be the voice of student loan reform when she makes $12 an hour at Arthur Murray and has no chance of getting out of debt.

I see what you did there! I think.....you had me until the rhino humping the unicorn.

Well its not likely to be riding a rhino especially if it’s humping a unicorn... and even more so when it’s a specific unicorn that poops delicious rainbow ice cream.

Thankfully it was good enough 30 years ago. I’d be aproud USF Bull alumnus otherwise.
