$400 million upgrades that are, amazingly, privately funded by the owner. Looks pretty nice.

I wonder how they were able to privatley fund that upgrade by the owner? I mean Steven Ross cried like a 16 girl who got stood up on a date a few years ago when the Florida legislature didn't give him his money.

He gets no credit for funding this in my eyes when he acted the way he did.

I understand that more than half of the cost is for new speakers to enhance crowd noise at U games.

He had every right to be pissed. It was nonsense

What was nonsense about it? It appears he could afford to do it on his own, why should people in Tallahassee or every other place in the state pay for this?

I wonder how long til the cheap ass Glazers put some money into Ray Jay. That place still inexplicably has the same scoreboards as it did when it opened in '98. It's also so unbelievably hot that it kills the attendance. The huge awnings are a great idea.

Wasn't the argument whether local voters should be able to decide whether to fund the improvements Ross wanted? In other words, Ross was asking the Legislature for permission for the voters to decide and the Legislature would not allow it

Even then, the voters would be voting on whether to increase local hotel bed taxes. Its not as if he was lobbying for state sales tax money paid by you and I.

That cover looks like a giant sail if a hurricane comes by.

One of my best friends runs the Dolphins right now, and their main focus is expanding the use of the stadium.

Looks amazing, I drove by it this afternoon on my way back from The Schvitz.

The same time he was asking for $400 million from the state for a private building, he was donating hundreds of millions of dollars to Michigan.

His building. His money.

What I have heard as well. They going all in for the World Cup.

Kramer, crazy thing is, a few years ago he invited us down for the game when Chelsea came, and they were expecting a small turnout.

I think Matt told me they got over 60,000 people for that game, it was against Arsenal if I remember correctly, atmosphere was fantastic.

Nice looking stadium for the dozens of fans that'll show up. I don't think it matters how nice the stadium is unless they are moving the stadium attendance will be awful in south florida for the Fins, canes and orange bowl.

Wow, roof will be nice for day games by providing shade. Super Bowl will return soon with those upgrades.

My neighbors are Latin, and could not wait for those games. They got tickets to all of those games. World Cup would be an absolute goldmine for Miami. Those European teams need to do more stops over here.

Exactly. He wanted the voters to decide if they wanted to help out or not. Seems pretty fair considering the stadium is one of 3 NFL stadiums that were built using private funds and the NFL flat said the super bowl will not return unless the stadium is improved... the super bowl doesn't help the Dolphins or Steven Ross as there is no financial gain. It certainly brings in a bunch of dough to the community though.

It was estimated that this year's super bowl boosted Arizona's economy by 500 million. From an investment stand point it seems like a no brainer to me.

Yep. Sun Life was better than RJ prior to these renovations. Now, RJ is just falling further and further behind. It's pathetic that an NFL team has worse scoreboards than most college teams.

I didn't live in Tampa in the 90's, but for the life of me, I don't understand why they didn't build a dome when they built the new stadium. 1 pm games at RJ are brutally hot, plus you have to contend with the weather delays. I went to the game vs the Rams this year and there was about a two hour lightning delay. In addition to those reasons, having a dome would allow the city to host the Final Four and other events year round.
