Surprised that Christian Ponder isn't on an NFL roster, even as a back-up QB

I always thought he would be a nice fit in Philly with Chip kelly as a backup.

Dog eat Dog league. QB is the worst position you can play in the NFL but has all of the benefits if you are good.

CP can be a very solid and serviceable backup QB in the NFL. There are a lot worse....

veterans won't be signed until after week 1 (this coming week) so that teams don't have to guarantee their contracts. He will be picked up somewhere this week...

No idea who this guy is and if that douche Mort actually said it, but seems CP7 may disagree...

Though I would agree with you, he'd be better in a quick read offense that moves the QB a little.

I don't know about CP's overall football intelligence, but he's smart enough in my book and a damn genius for his choice in a wife. Of course he's also a great man by all accounts.

Here's to getting him signed and playing quickly.

nfl network just said the raiders have contacted him

If this is true shows how badly ran that organization is. Cut a guy then realize the backup isn't good enough so bring in the guy you cut.

If your point is that there is a lot of stupid out there, you proved your point.

Can't blame him, I wouldn't want to go to that Mickey Mouse offense in Philadelphia.

Jameis had a higher QB rating than Luck yesterday (granted quality of the defenses they played varied).

I hate when people put Jameis name in the same sentence as Russell. Pet peeve.

You could say that EJ fit the prototype, but I don't think Ponder ever met the "eye test" on anything. He made it to the NFL primarily because of his brain.

Right, because Winston's career is defined after his first game.....you know the last player to throw a pick 6 on his first career attempt? Favre. Guess he sucked too.Winston plays behind one of the worst offensive lines in recent memory. Tampa has already signed a new player today because they see this. Let's not rush to judge.

A stat that means absolutely nothing at all in this entire universe of organized football...useless and taking up unnecessary space in your head.

Wait a min. I thought Minnesota had the worst OL in recent memory? Or no, was it Buffalo?

Actually Minnesota had a good line.....when Brad Johnson was quarterback. Carolina had a good line when Weinke was quarterback.

So what is your point, other than ragging on recent superstars from the Seminoles who landed in unenviable towns to start their NFL career?

Minnesota had a good line, but a line built for the running game. If the team had to force the passing game, it was doomed. But no, the line overall was not bad. Buffalo, their line was fine, I think we all knew EJ wasn't going to be a star. That team never got the pieces around a QB to succeed until the last two years and Tyrod Taylor will now reap those benefits.
