The Endless 2018

Extremely low budget Resolution 2012 or so was the prequel that doesn't have to be seen and I don't think should be seen.

I ran the gambit of thought from this is stupid to this is mesmerizing.

It's a good ride for the budget.

Huh, never heard of Endless, or Spring, now I'm interested. However, just by chance, I DID watch Resolution years ago, after seeing it on a year end best of list. I remember thinking it was good and interesting, but not being totally satisfied with the resolution, but I don't remember much more than that.

All of those movies are available on Amazon.

Resolution- (Prequel to Endless) extremely low budget, and I think Endless is served better without watching it

Spring - Best movie of all of them. Same Universe non related.

Endless-The fan video posted above pretty much sums it up without spoilers.

Definitely a fun little movie, though it felt almost quaint, which was a surprise given the marketing and the hype.

Marketing didn't make Dothan Alabama

The question is, and after watching it twice I'm certain it's a yes, do you think the brothers are in a ____?

Watched it last night and enjoyed this movie. Thank you for starting this thread and bringing it to our attention Phin.

While not the exactly the plot complexity of "Primer" that requires flow charts, a dissertation and near genius IQ to figure out there is just enough here in the Endless to chew on without getting too mired in confusion during the film.

The director does not reveal the answer to "the" main question at the ending but do admit that there is enough in the movie to come up with your own answer. I think the comment of a possible third movie with characters escaping the loops is a clear admission to they are in fact in a loop. But the bigger question in my mind is not if but when? The three clues I gathered on first viewing, watched later than usual and probably missed a lot, the fresh looking kids drawing at the roadside memorial, the birds circling overhead, and the more confusing reply to Tim's question about being on empty in the truck when Justin replies, "you figure it out, THIS TIME"

If Tim and Justin are caught in a loop, it is not exactly clear when it begins and ends. We know that the main body of the cult is stuck in a 10 year loop. Could Tim and Justin be caught in a much larger loop that stems from their childhood? Is this why Anna had the perceived attraction towards Tim when he was a kid? Could this answer why Tim and Justin could not seem to progress in life outside the cult? Was the ending of the movie the end of their loop or the beginning? It would not make sense that it was the beginning yet at what point did they die or submit to the beast to create an end point?

The first time I watched it, I went completely blind, so I had questions as it unfolded to and what was happening. Once the loops were brought up I thought back on issues

I thought the brothers were in a longer loop that interacts with the group not necessarily in every cycle because the group cycles at 10 years. The first thought was the talk about a pedophile and the woman looking at him when he's young like she loved him. I take it to mean she will interact with him in the future and she knows this.

Going back and watching it a second time, it makes the interaction with the group leader not nearly as odd. It's more of he's a patient man doing the best he can to guide them, live in a cycle, and work within the rules of his cycle.

However, after watching the prequel, which is actually shown through the antagonist POV, I am not sure. If you watch that movie, we can talk about things that may mean they broke out.

I think you may be correct Phin. They seem to be in a longer more widespread loop due to the camera showing the clouds grouped in a circle while the two brothers are having a beer in the park. Another clue is the projector shows another projector showing the same scene, mirror on mirror towards the end. Every scene that involved a loop had a marker near by. The same marker that is mentioned by the roadside memorial. So we can assume a loop was formed at the point of the road side memorial which involved a mother and her children (even though I seem to recall only one cartoon child in the picture). We are told Hal pulled Justin and Arron out of a burning car. Which brings one to question what happened to the mother? Was her loop possibly different from the children due to her immediately dying in the crash? Was this mother the crying blond women, wife of Micheal? Was Micheal's child who was on the way, Aaron, and did he have another older kid who was Justin? Was it the mother who mailed the package that began this movie warning of the incoming ascension? We never heard her story due to Justin losing his interest and walking off once he found out she was married. Or are these completely separate events and people? Why could Aaron and Anna not see each other in that one scene, is that where their loops diverged like the split between the loop and reality as in the scene with the mountain lion not seeing Justin?

I now believe since Justin and Aaron where able to break the cycle of their relationship and change who they are instead of how they died. They were able to escape the loop which was meant to ensnare who they used to be and not who they became. The end scene should had resulting in the brothers being pulled from a burning car as children. With Hal waiting outside the camp, for what we can assume for this scene to unfold. But we see him turn away with relief that this time was different and the brothers had in fact escaped.
