Can someone please tell me what the hell Phil Mickelson was wearing yesterday? Someone will hopefully post pic. A button down dress shirt. I know it’s a different material but ugh it was turrible.

The look begged the question: Why would Phil Mickelson wear a dress shirt for an actual golf tournament?

If you guessed money, you’re halfway there. According to ESPN, Mickelson agreed to wear Mizzen+Main performance dress shirts in exchange for a stake in the company and, yes, even more money for an endorsement deal.

Company founder Kevin Lavelle said of the agreement, via ESPN:

“Phil is one of the most well-known golfers of all time and loved by virtually every fan in golf. Having someone at this level demonstrate so clearly the performance capabilities of our dress shirts while competing is absolutely phenomenal.”

I'm ignorant to most of Golf. What sort of things does that mean?

Forbes said he was worth $375 mil in 2016!:eek::eek:

I was by no means suggesting Phil is broke. But he OWNS a Gulfstream V, which seats 19 people, along with multiple homes, multiple sports cars, etc. He is a prodigious gambler. Nothing particularly unusual about that, but the point is that he needs lots of money to keep all of those things going. He narrowly escaped an SEC prosecution a few years back.

Personally, I like Phil. I was just saying that he may have a ton of money, but he needs it to live the way the lives. Nothing wrong with that, as far as I am concerned.

Is Mizzen+Main publicly traded? The way he hacked it around yesterday, it might be a good time to go short on them.

I don't understand why the article asks "why is he wearing a dress shirt to play golf in".

These guys wear dress pants to play in every single tournament. Why can't they wear shorts? The women can wear skirts. Golf rules are so stupid.

Gentleman golfer. Men want to be like him and women want to be with him...

At least he left the tie at home ;)

I would agree that more people came out early because Tiger was playing. I also think all of those people would've been there regardless given the price of the ticket.

That assumes most of the people there bought their own ticket. I’d venture to guess that at least half are work/friend/family pass alongs.

Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow with the weather and the later start time (for him).

As the panel on GC noted, Tiger played very well when he wasn't in contention. As soon as he was, he was +1 over the final six holes of his round. We will just have to see if he has that mental sharpness in the 4th round. He never has been one noted as a come from behind kind of winner.

NBC should be pleased to have the Tiger/Spieth pairing for Sunday.

Koepka with a 63. Woods goes bird bird bird early. Simpson still with huge lead.

No Blue Room made me sad. Benefactors tent Friday was lit. Great crowd. Even bumped into and got to talk to Telvin Smith and Marcel Dareus. Really cool down to earth guys.

I haven't done Benefactor in a while. Got sick of the shoulder to shoulder crowds. My wife and I started a tradition of wandering the course on Fridays and hitting the Ketel One tents.

Didn't make it out this year but will next year
