Yes, the statue of Francis Eppes, Tommy Jefferson's grandson, has got to go, people are offended!
Despite survey results with over 2 to 1 voting in favor of keeping it in front of Ruby Diamond, Thrasher caved to the PC activist organization known as A.S.S.E.S.{Activist stupid students eradicating statues}. Plans are to melt the statue and build a statue of offensive wunderkind Billy Joe and offer it to FAMU as a peace offering.

Why stop with the statue? If it was his money gained from the use of slaves that started the school, shouldn't it all go? Burn it all down!!

(Since I'm not from Tallahassee and I didn't go to FSU, I had to look up who Francis Eppes was. I like that wikipedia refers to him as a "planter" - like he ever actually went out into a field and planted anything himself!!)

What about the people and groups that get fired up about removing every statue or symbol that they decide offends them? Just as embarrassing as the "rednecks" who get bent out of shape when they do get removed?

There was already a thread about this on the TC. I don't know if it's been deleted.

The whole ordeal follows the same scripts as most similar statue and/or flag removals. He owned slaves. The statue is fairly recent, and new research indicates he may not have been as important as we thought he was.

I don't know enough about the man at this time to give much input. I'm simply giving my synopsis of what I saw in that thread and it's linked articles.
