I guess they like to woof it down...

Dogs and even puppies are sold openly for food in Moran market, Seongnam, the country's largest open-air dog market - contradicting claims made last year by local authorities that it was closing.

Up to 80,000 dogs are sold and slaughtered at the market each year, to be made into a soup which folklore claims boosts the eater's sex drive.

Acutely aware of the worldwide reaction to eating dog meat, Korean authorities have urged citizens not to consume the animals during the Olympics

Ehh - dogs, rabbits, chickens, pigs, etc. The only difference is the perceived level of cuteness and people's willingness to see "human" qualities in them and refer to them as "fur babies". Probably tasty, nutritious, and affordable. Let the locals eat.

Anyone eaten dog and willing to admit?

I haven't, I don't support for the very shallow reason NDRuss called out, but I would probably try it if it was local cuisine. Same with horse I suppose.

Why can't people eat cats instead?

Also apparently the South Koreans do eat cat.

“Cat meat, on the other hand, is mostly consumed by middle-aged working class women, again for its perceived health benefits. Because cats are agile creatures, their meat and bones are thought to cure rheumatism - and working women need to ensure they remain in good health long into their sixties or seventies in order to support themselves financially. Cats are boiled (sometimes alive) in pressure-cookers and it usually takes ten cats to produce one small bottle of cat soju (goyangi soju), an alcoholic elixir thought to keep arthritis at bay for a few weeks at a time. I also observed some shopkeepers adding cat meat to dog meat meals because cats are less expensive than dogs. This substitution helps keeps the production cost down in a market where a cat costs about the equivalent of £10, while a dog is about £100.”

So they do eat cat without the outrage. Sounds good to me!
