I'm going to get beat up over this but oh well. I'm a man of my own convictions and I have researched as much info as possible.
Things still arent adding up about Norvell.
The insiders are still sticking strong and committed. Freeman just provided a post that he is still hearing the same but his gut is starting to make him think twice. Mike Dean - same. Nole128 - same. Emerald - as of earlier this morning - same. In addition, at this point, the other folks most likely are remaining silent because they might feel they are being fooled. I expected their tune to change, at least show more weakness that maybe Stoops wont be coach. I expected all the Pro Stoops folks to start falling by the wayside and say things are not looking great for Stoops. That isn't happening. I get the gut feeling as Dot/Ira are making things most likely "official" their gut would cringe but they are still hearing the same info from their sources.
So I finally get confirmation from Dot that he is not aware of any negotiations or an offer being extended to Norvell at this time. The strange part was for over 2.5 weeks, Dot knew that either negotiations, both sides are in discussions or an offer has been extended to Stoops. If you look hard enough, I have provided all the mentions he said so. I counted almost 40 times! Yet, for Norvell? Not once. Now, do we believe Dot was allowed to know about Stoops but not Norvell? Or, is there even an offer extended to Norvell? NO ONE seems to know...including ESPN.
So then I went over to the Memphis board. Wow....Norvell is leaving his team and the announcement is made public before their AAC game? There would have to be frantic outrage on their board right? Wrong. There is one thread discussing "Coach Status" that is 4 pages and 3,300 views. What??? Do they have 10 subscribers? Now look, I know and will not argue that FSU has one of the largest fan bases on Rivals...I get it. But to tell me that their fanbase doesnt give a damn knowing that their coach who has made their program looking like a superhero and they just dont care? Or do they believe he is actually leaving? If this was FSU...well, we know we would have thousands of posts and a million plus view thread. Either no one shows up on the Memphis Board or the only info provided is Mods talking between themselves and giving each other updates. I find this interesting. You take it for what it is.
Ok, I cant get over the DHR tactic of misdirection. I've looked them up over the past few days and provided interesting stories to how they operate. This is right up their alley. Now, some people have informed me that this is our man Jimmy Sexton doing this. I cant argue that. So what do I do? I research and confirm that Jimmy Sexton is actually Mike Norvell's agent. Not only that, but I also found out that Jimmy is based out of guess where? Yup you got it...Memphis. So what is really going on? If you are actually going to provide a smoke screen or start leveraging your HC for more money...would you involve ESPN or not?
In addition to my post HERE about things I am looking for to change my mind. Nothing has changed except for buzz increasing for Norvell. However, that buzz is saying Norvell is leading and I specifically addressed what "leading candidate" means. Do you realize there is absolutely NO DISCUSSION about contract details with Norvell? No where. Not one person knows anything about how much Norvell is going to coach at FSU. Yet, thinking of Bob Stoops - at one time this is all we were talking about.
If you are a Norvell fan....."congrats" I suppose but I will add this. Dont get too excited or comfortable just yet.
If you are Stoops fan like I am...all I can say is hang in there and have hope. We shouldn't sell ourselves short and settle for less. I will fight till the end and I stand behind the info I have been able to find out. Whether you agree with me or not, you cant argue it isnt compelling.
If you are a FSU fan and want the best for FSU...I hope you are happy but I'm afraid that FSU now put themselves in a lose-lose situation. The admin set high expectations to hire a home run hire and settle for a non P5 coach. Sure, that coach will be better then what we had previously but we paid $100k+ for this? Are you kidding me? This is the best we can do? Oh, it is? Then please explain the part about firing a coach mid season and raising funds by asking your higher level boosters to increase their donations at least 20% (up to 100%) for a mid tier coach? I sure wouldn't want to be in their shoes with this fall out.
My gut? A ton can change in over 24 hours and I wouldn't be shocked or surprised you start to see that momentum switch tonight or late in the evening back to Bob Stoops.
Call me every name in the book, I dont care. I have laid out to you and provided you compelling evidence of why I feel this way. I'm not just throwing info up against the wall and hoping it sticks. You can argue all you want and that is fine but I wish you good luck finding evidence to convince me otherwise. Until more "details" become available like contract details. I find this all skeptical.
