Here's some rule changes that probably cost FSU three or four more MNC's.

#1 ---FSU is playing at Miami when Jim Kelly is QB. Just before halftime in a defensive struggle Kelly launched a bomb from about 50 yards out and FSU gets a Pass Interference penalty. Back in those days PI was a spot foul and Miami gets the ball point blank and goes in for a TD on the next play. UM goes on to win the game basicly by this play. The next year the NCAA changes the rule that PI is a 15 yard penalty and a first down. Had this rule be in effect one year sooner FSU probably wins. This rule change was one year too late for FSU.

#2--- FSU again is playing Miami the first year the goal post were narrowed.. That was the first "wide right" year. Any other year that kick would have gone through and FSU probably wins a MNC.

#3---FSU is at home playing Clemson the first year of instant replay... Clemson is driving to win the game and there's a fumble. FSU recovers and the refs mark the ball for us but it's reviewed... After quite a long time of looking it's decided that it was a "tie" between a offensive player and a defensive player so the tie goes to the offense? Clemson holds on to the ball and scored to put the game away. Any other year there wouldn't have been replay and we probably win that game.

#4---The BCS comes along and somehow thinks it's good for FSU to play a UF team that we just beat the last game of the season. Before there was a BCS FSU would probably not had to play UF again for the MNC. I like our chances if the team we played in the Sugar Bowl didn't have the word Gator on the helmet.

#5---The first year of the Playoff's was this past year. FSU qualifies as the #3 team and has to play the #2 team in the Oregon Ducks. We all know how that turned out. Under the old BCS system FSU would have been ranked #1 playing #2 Alabama for the MNC. Again I like our chances.

I'm missing football... Just something to talk/think about.
