The ineluctable result was masterminded by top notch defense counsel. Good private lawyers virtually always trump gub'mint lawyers.
Then, the immense and impossible burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt doomed the defense before they had even begun to attempt to bumfoozle the jury.
EVEN had the impossible occurred and the jury remarkably, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, returned a guilty verdict, the judge should have entered Florida's version of a JNOV (judgment NOTWITHSTANDING the ((jury's)) verdict), and even then if Jupiter had aligned with Mars, the first appellate court to view such a hypothetical imaginary horrible should have reversed such a preposterously wrong result,
The ONLY realistically possible wildcard was the whimsical vagaries of juries, but as mentioned above, such an absurd result should've been reversed.
