free from “profit-making incentives”

Profit isn't a bogeyman, it's a critical signal in the production system.
In the absence of monopolies profits are a signal of the demand for more production. Increased production increases supply, which drives down prices.
We can't address the price problems in the health care industry without addressing the monopolies.

Well, he helped save Berkshire over a billion dollars in taxes, which is pretty cool. Maybe Ronnie will drop in and offer an opinion on his haircut.

Very cool article.

But I gotta say, reading 12 hours a day.... either he reads 12 works 6? and has no time for family, reads 12 works 0, has time for family but produces very little, or something is amiss. I guess I value my family and me time too much to move to that level.

Edit - I guess what I should say is I don't see how one can spend 12 hours a day reading, have a home life, and find time to leverage productive hours influencing change at work, but this has made me think about how I spend my primary 12 hours during the day.
