If visitors are looking for some indoor entertainment today check out the Tuskegee exhibit at the hanger to the NW of the main airport terminal. It's very exciting to learn the stories of the courageous men.

Unfortunately they had a bit of a skid out during the arriving landing but no worries those planes are tough! The P-51 Mustang is sidelined but its still a good show.

I had the privilege to see the Tuskegee Airman Museum in Tuskegee, AL while I was at Officer Training School. I highly recommend people go if you are in the area. They renovated and updated the exhibits back in 2018-2019. Fantastic museum! Just amazing being around that history and seeing what those before us accomplished so that we can still have the freedoms we have today!

Thanks for posting this OP!

My Dad flew P-38s out of Italy the last year of the war. I asked him if he ever ran into any of the Red Tails.
His response...."Yeah, their base was about 30 miles from ours and we used to dog fight with them all the time." They all flew out of the Foggia air complex. Bunch of air fields around there.

Oh man, from the little I know P-38s were high flyers that could do some of everything.

Has a different sound than a P-51. You can see the turbochargers on top of the fuselages behind the engines. Muffles the sound a bit. The Packard built Merlins on a P-51 have short exhaust stacks and no turbo. It has an engine driven supercharger between the carb and the intake manifold.

I tried to find the CAF schedule for the Red Tails tour on the website but I can't find it. I get it in an email once a month.
I've been a Col. in the CAF since 1979.

Looks like the Red Tails P-51 had a landing incident while at TLH. Not too much damage.
