So I was at a concert in Atlanta last night and after the show ended a group of inebriated rednecks decided to start doing the UGA chant. When I was the only one in the immediate area that didn't join in, a few people asked me why and of course I started doing The Chop and said Go Noles! This is when it got interesting. These fools were so out of touch with college football reality they tried to say they would run all over us if we played. I laughed hysterically. Not to mention I had a friend with me who is a UGA fan/alumni and even he disagreed with his Bulldog brethren...but you can't debate much with drunk folk. Next, they attempted to say their season was as successful as ours and the reasoning behind that was since neither team made the playoff, we were in the same boat. They didn't respond well to facts but I had to mention their losses to Ole Miss and UF, both teams we beat, the measly 8-5 record compared to our 10-3 record and our NY6 bowl win compared to whatever crap bowl they were in. When they couldn't debate that anymore the conversation shifted to recruiting and James Cook was brought up. While all signs do point to him going to UGA at this point, and they have been recruiting pretty solidly, they couldn't grasp that we are insanely deep at RB right now and have had higher ranked classes consistently over the past 5-7 years (Jimbo era). They seem certain Kirby Smart is the lord and savior and will bring them a title. After they caught on that FSU is just the superior football school they resorted to the "SEC is better" crap and bringing up the 1990s "free shoes university." I just had to ask how the SEC will look when its crown jewel drops back-to-back games to the ACC Atlantic? Which I followed up by asking them if they though it might be time time for the conference to stop riding Alabama's coat tails? Of course they had nothing to come back with. Anyway, is it football season yet?
