Jimbo said the practice ended up being very good today. In hindsight, he said Friday's was a little sluggish ... and he thinks that might have been because of the three-day layoff from the team virus.

Some updates on injuries. Chad Mavety and Derrick Kelly both were held out with slight concussions, Jimbo said. He said the boot on Mavety's foot is nothing of note. Said he has been wearing it for awhile outside of practice to keep pressure off of it.

Jimbo was very high on Sean Maguire's performance today. Said he might have been a B-plus yesterday but was an A-minus today. Complimented him on making several nice throws in red-zone situations and making good decisions. Said he's also making big throws down the field. "I liked what I saw."

Jimbo was also very complimentary of young defensive players Jacob Pugh and Marquez White. He also said Dalvin Cook is having a great spring. Complimented his pass-blocking, mental assignments, etc.

A handful of guys are still out with the stomach virus, notably Nile Lawrence-Stample, Bobo Wilson and Jeremy Kerr. George Campbell was back from that today.

Will have more coverage coming later today.

EARLY UPDATE

Quick turnaround from yesterday's afternoon practice. The team started walk-through around 10:30 this morning. Seemed like some guys were a little sluggish, causing Jimbo, Kelly and the other coaches to get a little more animated than usual.

Not surprisingly, there were a lot of guys out or limited. Some of the notables were: OL Chad Mavety (right foot in a boot), LB Terrance Smith (left foot in boot), OL Derrick Kelly (nothing visible, but he wasn't dressed out, just jersey), WR Kermit Whitfield did limited work (hamstring) ... LB Matthew Thomas was there but not in uniform. Looks like they have completely shut him down for shoulder surgery. Did not see OL Ryan Hoefeld or DB Ryan Green.

With Smith out, the LBs were Ro'Derrick Hoskins and Tyrell Lyons. The first-team DL was DeMarcus Walker and Jacob Pugh at DE, and Derrick Nnadi and Demarcus Christmas (wonder if Nile Lawrence-Stample has the virus that's going around). No surprises with the first-team secondary -- Jalen Ramsey and Marquez White at corner, Tyler Hunter, Nate Andrews at safety and Trey Marshall at "Star."

With some guys out on the OL, the group looked a little different today. It was (left to right) Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, Alec Eberle, Wilson Bell and Brock Ruble. Mavin Saunders was first-team TE.

First three WRs in the portion we saw were Travis Rudolph, Ermon Lane and Ja'Vonn Harrison. Did not see Bobo Wilson at practice.

Number note: Jonathan Vickers has been wearing 26 lately instead of 22. Not sure if that's permanent.

Karlos Williams watched practice today. As did former 'Nole Tra Thomas, who was here Friday too.

That's about it for now. Will have the update from Jimbo a little after 1 p.m.
