I'm going to Toronto at the end of the month and I was wondering if anyone on here has used Uber outside the U.S. I'll be staying downtown and most of the places where I'll go will be within walking distance. Would it be worth my while to use Uber if needed or would it make more sense to take a cab if I have to go somewhere?

Uber is all over the place outside the U.S. I'm sure you'll have no trouble in Toronto. But check the app now and see what sort of availability they have.

As to your question about whether to use Uber or a cab, I would imagine (if you've used Uber before) that question is pretty easy to answer.

I was in Toronto on business a couple of months ago. UberX worked just fine.

The construction going on in Toronto right now is insane. Give yourself plenty of time if you're driving anywhere.

Some countries, Uber is more expensive. I would imagine in Toronto it is still cheaper, but in the Middle East, it is more expensive.

I just used Uber today from the Hyatt Regency downtown Denver to the airport, $37. Flat rate in a cab is $50. I don't know how cabs are going to survive.

Why not?

Do you think uber is less stringent about their ME drivers or are drivers in the ME more likely to do something to you?

Uber's in some countries (India, China) seemed much better than a standard cab as far as drivers who spoke English and had a newer car. The ones in the UAE were better cars, and spoke better English, but were just more expensive.

I never understand the idea that it is a private car vs a normal taxi. If you are hailing a cab, you have no idea if it is a legit cab, or a shady company. At least with Uber, you know their standards, and you also have a record of where you are.

I want to not be forced to eat my own flesh before being horrifically murdered so I've never used Uber.

Spot on! Uber passengers are frequently forced to perform self-cannibalization before being murdered in any number of uniquely brutal ways. It's like they "hey come kill me app", moreso than dialing 911 even.

They need to create an Uber/Tinder hybrid so you can just swipe to the left if a driver looks creepy.

Just used it in Montreal this weekend and it was just as easy and cheap as nornal. Toronto is more difficult to drive around imho so id definitely utilize it there or you may end up on the high traffic blocks. Toronto can be bumper to bumper at times
