USPS Delivery Routes

Last week I ordered something off of Amazon Prime. I got the notification my order was shipped and checked for updates. I found out my order went from Riveria Beach Fl (West Palm area) to Ft Pierce Fl to Jacksonville Fl to Tifton Ga to Mongomery Al to Dothan Al to Chipley Fl to DeFuniak Springs Fl.

The model of inefficiency.

To be fair, nobody knows where DFS is. They probably just randomly bounce things around until someone says "yeah, I had a flat tire there 20 years ago."

I think it's their tracking system. Last week it showed my package had been delivered to, and signed for, the post office in PCB instead of my home address in Lynn Haven. It arrived at my door the next day.

I got it on the day they said it was going to be delivered but I'm sure they factored in the circuitous route it traveled. Had it gone from Jacksonville directly to DeFuniak, it would've arrived 2 days earlier.

So running a single package from Jax to BFE and back is your model of efficiency?

Generally speaking it’s about the # of pkgs going to a certain place and the service time. So being that you got it when you were suppose to it’s likely that your pkg from so. Fl was being matched up with pkgs from the north in AL to go into DFS.

If you want it 2 days earlier well you have to pay for that.

I'm sure there were more than one package destined for a location on the I10 corridor.

I don’t but just think of it this way. The USPS wants to get as many pkgs going into DFS As it can on as little trips as possible. The more time you give them to do that the less you have to pay.

Have to take your mind off of just your pkg. they are servicing others pkgs. along that route.

Think about if you had to fly from WPB to Tally. It’s a lot cheaper for Delta to send you to ATL with the multiple flights it already has for folks leaving FL and then from ATL to Tally with the multiple flights it already has for folks coming into Fl.

Now if you decide to take the direct from WPB to Tally that is causing Delta to make an extra trip into Tally therefore making the flight more expense.
