The score is a little misleading. I'd say Coloumbia outplayed us in the first half. The red card on the goal keeper changed the game.

Thoughts:
1. Wambach is not in top form. She didn't play for a club team this year-- just preparing for the WC. Maybe it's age but she isn't the same player?

2. Our defense is playing lights out

3. Two of our players (Rapinoe being one) is out on Friday vs China. This one could be tough....

4. Anything but a title will be a disappointment.. I don't think they are playing like the favorite right now.

Meanwhile, Germany and France played lights out over the weekend. Just glad one of them will eliminate the other in the quarter finals.

Wambach should be a 70-75th min sub, not a starter. Press should be starting up top with Morgan. And we're playing like crap because our first touches are horrible and we can't seem to string together 3 passes, much less know where we're supposed to be on the field. The only tactic is "cross it and hope for a header".

No actual interest in watching, but Roast Beef must be playing well with another shutout huh?

I couldn't believe Wambach missed the PK. Andrade on Columbia was their best player.

Watching that game last night was like watching someone play pinball. Nobody controlled the ball - it just bounced around off people and every so often they got a lucky bounce. They were up a person for almost half the game and at no point did they spread the field and tire out Columbia and keep possession. I agree the ref played a big part in the game but I thought she did ok considering the game was frantic and was pretty physical due to the constant turnovers and bad passing.

She doesn't really have to do much. She made maybe 1 or 2 saves, the back 4 are keeping the opposing teams from getting many shots and causing any real danger/threat. They have been the MVPs of the US squad.

Not too much action. The few shots Col hit most where off target.

Wamback looked old and sluggish. I hate missing the goal on a penalty kick.

Columbia fell down on the slightest contact begging for a card. Ironically to counter our fast break they tripped us up as we passed, it worked for the most part.

I thought the red card was a bit much but that should have the been the second penalty kick awarded instead of the first. Imo Rampone was fouled in the box earlier in the game and not called.

It sucks Rampone will not be able to play in the next game. She will be missed.

Ugly open field passing all game long that resulted in numerous turnovers. It looked like my son's U10 team out there:eek:

Rapinoe, not Rampone. Two different players. I don't believe Rampone has played much as she is almost 40. The red was debatable as to whether or not that Colombia defender was behind the goalie or not, as the goalie would be the last line preventing a goal scoring opportunity and makes it a red.

I definitely agree this is the worst women's team in 20 years. However, they can win the cup with a few minor changes.

Defense and Solo have gotten better every game. Center backs were great last two games. Solo is by far the only great keeper in the cup, most keepers left are really poor and can make simple saves adventurous. Even the german keeper.

Wambach shouldnt be playing. Some great young US forwards are on the bench or at home watching because Jill Ellis has decided to live or die with wambach. Its tough as she was so good for so long but shes a statue now. Totally dependent on service from others and bogs down the attack. She cant move out there and doesnt fit in tacticslly with morgan and rapinoe who are much more versatile.

The passes out of bounds are harder for me to explain this midfield just hasnt been very good. Maybe some new faces vs china will get things rolling. Gotta figure this team is due for goals its now or never with china then germany most likely next. But ellis is stubborn hopefully she watches tape and calms this team down. Usa is not enjoying this cup and its showing.

The US defense has been very impressive. The two center backs are a great pair. But in front of them, it looks like they are trying to replay the last world cup. Too many old faces and not enough young players. At least Alex Morgan seems to be getting back to form, which will help a lot.
