The wife and I thinking of doing a trip to Vegas at some point.
We have never been there, we’re in our 50’s, don’t really gamble, recently empty nesters.

I look on the web sites and there are just so many hotels to choose from.
We’d just do the total tourist thing I guess...maybe a three day sort of thing.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on how much you want to fork out? I would also suggest looking at what restaurants you want to eat at and then making a decision off of that. Also, do you guys like the pool and stuff? Shows? I would use those three elements to narrow down your search.

But if you want to stay away from the crazies then I’d recommend the Bellagio, it’s also very central.

The Missus and I want to go back and stay at the Aria resort. Probably a next year trip. We went for the first time a few years ago and enjoyed the Blue Man Group show at the Luxor. We are in your age bracket.

By the third day, you’ll be tired of people watching on the strip. Plan a day trip to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

Vegas is a conundrum. Love/hate relationship.

One thing I would suggest if you’re not big gamblers- stay at the Mandarin. Only decent hotel on the strip without a casino. It’s my Vegas peace place. Close enough to casinos but when you want some quiet time, you have it.

Craft Steak at MGM is as good as I’ve ever had.

SW at the Wynn is also fantastic.

The Chandelier bar at the Cosmo is amazing people watching.

Yellowtail at the Bellagio is great Sushi with views of the fountain shows.

The Lotus of Siam used to be one of the better off the strip restaurants if you like Thai food

I think Craft steak at MGM is in the top 5 of any restaurant I've ever been to.
And yes on day trips to Hoover Dam, etc.
And Bellagio is very central , you'll appreciate the location.

Bellagio is a great spot to stay....as is the Aria...and in the same vicinity, hit the Egg Slut at The Cosmopolitan. Hit the old Las Vegas downtown for a few hours, it's a trip. Ask for the secret drink at The Chandelier Bar at Cosmo, too. We had a drink earlier this year at the top of the Strat...amazing nighttime views. If you want some daytime strip views, hit the Budweiser Beer Park in Paris....great people watching, and some solid beers....not simply Bud products. Have a blast.

My partner likes the Bellagio, and I prefer the Wynn. I mostly eat at the buffets: Bellagio for breakfast, Caesar’s for lunch, and the Wynn for dinner; but I always make a trip to Red Square at Mandalay Bay for one meal. I prefer the pools at the Mandalay Bay, which makes that stop convenient.

The drive to the Hoover dam is a nice one. I get a craving for A&W and end up stopping each time we go.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about finding a hotel until you decide what you want to do. Then pick a hotel near or exactly where what you want to do is located.

Do you like to party? Get the middle of the pool table at Encore Beach Club.

It’ll be good for the marriage.
