A story came out yesterday from DeMarcus Ware's musings following retirement on his playing days. In it he named Walter Jones the best O-lineman he'd ever faced. The story, "DeMarcus Ware: I’ve never played against another offensive lineman like Walter Jones," is a short but great read. Here’s a glimpse or two:
“I saw one report that said he ran a 4.67 in the 40-yard dash at a pre-draft workout. When an O-lineman runs a sub-5.00 40, people say he’s fast. If that’s the case, Walter Jones was lightning.”
“When he punched you in the chest, you felt like your heart was going to go flying out of your body.”
Where oh where are the Walter Jones of today that are also as interested in us as he was? If we could find and sign another 'once in several decades' LT like Jones, we'd be bringing home a lot of shiny NC bling! Shoot, I'd be tickled if we signed a 'once in a year' LT!
