who have had a camping tradition going for many years in Hot Springs, NC. They get together as a memorial to a fallen friend and on Sauturday night there is always a big covered dish feed. Dang! Good stuff.
I watched a couple fire up a smoker which produced some of the best ribs I’ve ever eaten in just 3-4 hours. Theorioncooker.com has made me consider buying one in time to do our turkey this year for Thanksgiving. It was very simple to use and they used a three grate configuration that was loaded up with pork ribs that were moist and just right.
We brought over some fresh corn off the cob and green beans both cooked up in cast iron Dutch ovens. The best dessert was key lime pies using a recipe on one of the last pages from Better Homes and Gardens that a spry 80 year old proudly served up.
The best nip of the meal was apple infused moonshine that was smooth and tasty. There seemed to be a several people there who suffer from glaucoma, at least that must be why there was so much self medicating going on...

Looked up the cooker, looks super nice and at a decent price.

Love the Hot Springs area. Some great motorcycle riding up in that area.

There were lots of bikes over that way. We went to and fro on Highway 209 which is a winding, curvy, little road through the countryside. Small houses, little farms, lots of churches, a few stores, and not much else but nature.

I have been on 209 a half dozen times or so. It’s known as The Rattler. Had a nice lunch at the country store in Trust.
