What do we do well on offense?

I keep hearing and reading that we have to establish our identity on offense. Find what we do well and stick to it.

The problem I see is that I can’t name one thing we do well. We clearly don’t have a passing game except for a few shot plays. Corbin and Ward are okay, and maybe that’s the foundation from here. But our running game overall is hit and miss. Lots of possessions have started and died trying to establish the run over the last 5 years.

We don’t really do anything well on offense. And haven’t since 2016. But maybe we just commit to the run and roll with the fact that in establishing this identity we will be bad and continue to lose games. But in committing to the run, we force our team to adopt a lunch pail mentality as a way to build up from a solid foundation.

I think this is a risky but necessary strategy. Unless and until we build up at least an average OL, we will keep kicking the rebuild can down the road. We’ve had one of the worst OLs in all of college football since 2016. Those days must end before we can sniff competency.
