Thinking about riding this corporate life until 35, learning a trade, take money from my secret account and starting my own business.

HVAC seems like the way to go. No one wants to be hot in Florida.

What trade related field would you go in if you had to pick one and prostitution wasn't an option?

I'm a residential contractor and I'm telling you some Hvac guys are just raping people in my area. It's all sales, the rich guy buys a three year old home and has an inspection done. The inspector who typically isn't qualified does some bs test and says it's out of balance. The hvac guy comes in and convinces the rich guy that he needs new units and he buys them. It happens frequently in our area but this is a very affluent area, might not be the case everywhere. But, if you operate in the right place, there is money to be made.

Money to be made if you're unethical and have no problem ripping off people who put their trust in you.

When I first got into sales I sold Yellow Page advertising. I had a chance to meet a lot HVAC, Plumbers, electricians, and Roofers.

These guys were not the sharpest, not dumb, but not super smart either. They were smart enough to get an LLC, pay for some advertising, and hire a crew.

They made money hand over fist. I’m still not sure why I haven’t made this move.

Go be a HVAC guy dude....you’ll do well.

You will have to get the proper licenses, or hire a guy with the licenses, which I don’t believe is easy, but if you can make happen you should do well.

Keep us updated.

I worked and trained folks as a hardwood lumber grader for many years. That is a trade from days gone by...
Most people with money will need HVAC, automotive (get ahead of the curve and figure out electric car needs), landscaping/drainage/fire protection work outside, solar/wind/generator specialists, and other emerging tech stuff.
There will be things everybody needs, and then things monied people will pay for. Everybody needs for your nut, monied people wants for your profit.

i have a buddy who's very happy with a pretty successful business specializing in building hiking/mtn biking/dirt bike trails.

i used to do that too but on the gubmint side so made much less money but still had a blast.

I have been fascinated with trail design for awhile now...

Tradesmen don't care about the carb and calorie content of their beer. They're real men.

And it takes more than just learning a trade to become a licensed contractor in Florida. When I left South Florida, General Contractors were the largest new segment of millionaires moving to Palm Beach.

What about getting a drone liscense? Some clients of mine were talking about taking drone classes at the local community college. They were also talking about under water drones. I don’t know....seems like something easy to learn, make money doing, and drones are only getting more popular.

I would be a butcher; when I was comfortable with my skill level, I would begin to open high-end butcher shops in selected markets.

I've known a couple career-long butchers, and cutting meat is definitely not a profession you want to stay in for 40 year unless you are a fan of joint pain. On the other hand, you can get started in a hurry, master it fairly young, and be in a great position to become a successful entrepreneur before your arthritis takes over.

I spent years working as a government boilermaker/operator. HIGHLY recommend staying away from that but the money is pretty good as far as trades go.

I love woodworking so perhaps carpentry if the money was there.
HVAC seems like good money.
My beads suck but I'm still learning, however underwater welder always seemed like a cool job title.

I would get into some aimed at the millinnials. Haberdashery perhaps...

Sure, you can learn the HVAC trade, but are you willing to become a “sugar daddy “ and have wealthy women take care of you?

Beer brewer has been played out, but would be fun, maybe something along the lines of distilling small batch bourbon or gin as a trade would be ahead of the curve.

Shaping surfboards on a local level would be extremely rewarding. Getting to know your clients on a personal basis and shaping them the perfect board based on their style and talent level and experimenting with different shapes and materials to craft something by hand would be gratifying and challenging. It'd be nice to work at your own pace and just hang out at the beach or your shop and just kinda be.

Always dreamed of moving to the North Shore and becoming a shaper. But one with soul and not for commercialism. Probably meet a nice Hawaiian woman. At first her brothers wouldn’t like me but they would learn to accept my soulful way. Probably have a goofy helper around my shape shack. Eventually, I imagine, some haole surfer from the mainland would win some water park surf contest and fly to Hawaii. His board will get stolen so I take him in. He becomes like the son I never had and I teach him soul surfing by first using the boards that the great Hawaii. Kings used. He eventually betrays my soulfulness and enters a contest. He loses because the pro cheats but we all learn the true meaning of surfing.

Lawn guy here— I’ve done it on the side for years and it’s amazing how many people will call if you advertise.

My 14 year old does it now and loves it. He does pressure washing in the winters and that carries over to when people need their lawns mowed.

I don’t think this is a perm job though. It’s good extra money. My son wants to be a pilot...

He should take full advantage of his skill set and do both.

Sugar daddy & wealthy women taking care of me?!! Screw 35. I'm signing up now!

I would like to be a home theater installer/consultant I think. Certainly not a super high-demand trade, but I would enjoy it and I think I'd be good at it. I would like to learn enough in wall wiring/drywall work to do that part myself if needed, although I don't know how much you're allowed to do without be full on licensed.

If I can get to a point of semi-retirement, I'm going to look into hooking up with one of those places to learn the ropes.

HVAC in FL followed by lawn care is the only ways to go if business ownership is your goal. Relatively inexpensive to get started as compared to other business ventures.

There is certainly an aging population out there who does and continue to want lawn care.

Here is the all time great - Duke Kahanamoku - born before Hawaii was a state, surfed big wooden boards without a skeg, swam like a fish, buried at sea. That's my dream life right there.

If I didn't have to put in the time to build up a customer base I would go with lawn service. I like being outside and I like seeing completed work. That, and knowing that if I do good enough the customer will call me back and pay me to do something I don't mind doing.

I wouldn’t make TOO long of a long term plan in it. These robots are under a grand and will probably be $200 or so in just a couple of years.

For Money: HVAC or GC. After dealing with some of these guys as I replace my boiler and look to do a significant upgrade to my house, I feel like I could make tons just by being better at the follow-up.

For Love: Breed and train working line German Shepherds.

If my robot vacuums are indication, we have 15+ years of lawn maintenance at least. This seems like wave 1 of implementing the armed drones into houses. Feels a lot like socializing robots into our lives. Next thing you know, i Robot and the three laws of robotics. How many flower beds will be mowed over before people have to sit outside and watch and remote drive them?
