Steak and shrimp fajitas on the Big Joe. Blueberry margaritas in the pool. My 20 month old daughter picked the berries. They're really tart.

Headed to Nashville on Wednesday. Any food or drink recommendations? I'm familiar with Hattie B's and The Pharmacy.

Happy Independence Day! Stay safe out there.

We're heading out today for an extended family vacation in the NC mountains.

Nashville has one of the best fireworks shows in the nation, but it's a sh*&tshow as you might expect. So many restaurants coming and going, but here are some good ones:

Fine dining:
Etch
Fifth and Taylor
Rolf and Daughters
The Chef and I (not really "fine dining" in terms of food/decor, but great food/experience)
Catbird Seat (doubt you can get a reservation)
The Standard

Cheap/moderate:
Loveless Cafe
Mas Tacos (across the street from Pharmacy)
Urban Grub
Pancake Pantry
Puckett's
Party Fowl
Edley's, Mission or Martin's BBQ
Chauhan Marsala and Ale House
Hermitage Cafe
Mangia (do the family feast on Friday/Saturday night)

Drinking spots:
Lower Broadway
Five Points in East Nashville
Bluebird Cafe
Demonbreun Street
Germantown
12 South
The Gulch

Is the "holiday weekend" this weekend, next weekend, or the whole stretch from June 30 to July 8?
Apparently, there are differing opinions. Some places will celebrate the Fourth this weekend, while others will do it next weekend.

I say, why choose? Make it a week long celebration!

Around here we're celebrating the 4th on the 4th. Yeah I know. Novel idea.

If the holiday extends to a weekend, it will be the one following. Our office works four ten hour days Mon-Thurs. There are many who are taking Thursday off to make it a five day weekend.

Elk n Schnitzel, as a new hunting season draws near freezer needs room.

It's a tough job, but hell somebody has got to do it.
