I have a weeks vacation the first week of December. My plans to dive Bonaire have fallen through. If you could go anywhere this time of the year, where would it be?

How about Charlotte to watch the Noles in the ACC Championship game?

If you like to dive and have never been to Palau then I recommend that for sure.

The last two years we've gone to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen and Grand Cayman in December/early January. It's a perfect time to go, it's still warm enough to go swimming (usually 70-80s) yet not miserably hot for hiking. Roatan Honduras is also really nice that time of year as would really anything in the Western Carribean. If you want to go further, it's also a PERFECT time to go to Australia, New Zealand and South America as its late Spring/early summer down there.

On that note, you can get ridiculously low priced Tickets directly from Allegiant from Vegas to Hawaii. So just get a regular flight to Vegas and spend a day there and then hop to Hawaii.

So want a cheap trip? Grab a cruise to the Western Carribean or fly straight to Cancun or Grand Cayman.

Want a midpriced trip? Spend a day or two in Vegas then head over to Hawaii.

Want a showy trip? Head over to Australia or New Zealand.

Munich, perhaps, to see the Christmas market. Other cities, and towns, in Europe will have similar markets, I'm sure, but Munich gets a lot of "press" about theirs. Plus, I just really like Munich. :)

What about a cruise? The prices in December are really cheap. Especially if you can wait until 2-5 days before it leaves and can leave out of FLL or MIA

I am taking my daughter on a cruise in March. I used to cruise 3 times a year when I was married. Not so keen on it now for some reason. I have been almost everywhere you can go by cruise ship leaving from the US. Just not for me anymore.

We have been in the carribean since...October of last year. If you are into diving, which it appears, there are plenty of options around.

The BVIs have great diving and usually you can find a shared liveaboard to join in for a week. There are lots of options there.

Saint Lucia is amazing and we met several folks who have come here for diving vacations. Ti Kaye is an awesome spot. Dive Saint Lucia has packages and such.

Saba is little harder to get too, but it is essentially Jurassic park. Volcano in the middle of carribean sea. Shear vertical cliffs, very beautiful. Fly to SXM and take a puddle hopper to Saba. Smallest commercial airport in the world. The diving is ridiculous. Warm volcanic sand at 60 feet, pinnacles coming to around 80 and dropping to 1000s. Many pelagic fish and big whales.

The Bahamas are a little closer, but still warm enough to dive. Not carribean warm, but warm enough. For just diving San Salvador is the spot. Check out riding rock resort. Walls, Sharks, turtles, pelagics, and the people are awesome. Peaches makes the best piña colada. Although they were just hit by Joaquin so I would check there status. The exumas are awesome as well. Staniel cay has flights from lauderdale, and it is were they filmed James Bond thunderball!

Hope this helps!

What??? No, DO listen to me, ALWAYS!!

PCB is where to be for Christmas Eve!
You know what, I'm going to let you believe that outrageous idea. I am born and raised on the panhandle and grew up in FWB, and I currently live in Panama City, but what do i know?

I know that we are talking about PCB and Destin. Not PC and FWB!

I was also born and raised in the panhandle, so what do I know?!?

Where did go???

Listen, I'm just messing with you. I would never recommend PCB for a Christmas vacation, nor any place in the Panhandle. I was just messing. I am from that area and I know how people who live there can get worked up over which area is better...I was putting my comment out there as bait. I knew someone would bite. So don't get to upset about it, again, I was just messing around.

I do need to learn how to let these things ride though...still working on that end. I'm getting there though!

We went on one cruise, almost 21 years ago. Haven't been on one since. I'd like to go but the wife is against it. :(

In 2011 I was in the same "predicament", had vacation in December to use and the plans made with others fell through... I ended up going to Banff/Lake Louise for 4 days. Going alone wasn't ideal, but the trip ended up being great, this is of course if you are a skier. Its breathtaking beautiful and its easy to make friends on the mountain... it is also relatively inexpensive and not crowded in December if you go before the Christmas peak. It was just a place I always wanted to go, so that was it!!

Lot of good ideas ITT, thought I would throw out a skiing option from personal experience ;)
